Thanks for all of the info everyone :)
Yes, Quesada cover
Yes, Bagley cover
Yes, whatever cover I can get
No, I have the 2004 pre-omni HC
No, I have it in other formats (OHCs, TPBs, etc)
No, I don't like the story
Okay, I just received my Ultimate Comics Avengers Omnibus and I'm definitely a fan of the format. The book does lay flat when opened, even on the first read. It's big and heavy and it's gonna take me forever to read, and this one is only 608 pages. I'm definitely not missing out on the Ultimate Spidey Omnibus.
I already have volumes 1-3 in OHC and then the rest up to ultimate carnage in tpb's. What should I do? haha. Are we assuming that there will be more of these omnibuses and that they'll come out fairly frequently? I don't know if I can wait around for years for the entire run to get collected. I wish I had stayed on top of the original releases of the OHC's...

Brevoort said on his Formspring it all depended on how well the omnibus did. EVERYONE BUY IT!!!!!

I don't mind if it takes a couple years.. It's an old series already. It's a great series and I find the prospect of gradually collecting these over the next ten years oddly exciting. Every so often I'll get to pick up a huge collection of classic issues, most of which I've never read.
Oops, too late. Just picked up the remaining tpb's up until Ultimatum on ebay for a steal. I'll probably pick up the post-Ultimatum issues and death of spiderman in hardcover though, since they're new and easy to find. I'll probably regret this someday when all the omnibuses are released but I just couldn't pass up 50+ issues for such a great price.
I'm definitely getting this and pre-ordered my copy today. I read the first paperback years ago and never pursued the series after that, not because I didn't like it but because I wasn't as big into comics as I am now. So to get the first 30+ issues and over a 1000 pages of Spidey goodness in one book, I'm in.
Interesting how initially only 1/4 of votes were in favour of the book, now its more than half.
On the topic of Volume 2 (and inspired by Balfro's cover threads), what do you guys think would be the most likely choices for the covers? Volume 2 would likely contain 40-71 (Irresponsible, Cats & Kings, Hollywood, Carnage and Superstars) and Ultimate Six.
My two nominees are Ultimate Six #7 by John Cassiday:
And USM #57 by Mark Bagley:
The Cassiday cover is a great group shot showing off several Ultimatizations and would make a good variant (or, more likely, the mass market cover). The Bagley cover is just badass. An awesomely rendered Doc Ock duking it out with Spidey with a really moody blue-orange colour scheme.
Now not buying floppies ever again and currently selling my whole collection. Hardcovers are the way forward.
Currently Reading. Spider-Man the complete clone saga epic Book 1 - 5
I reckon the cover of #71 would be a good choice.
