"If you genuinely believe that only the death of a loved one can motivate a human being to take up a cause then get your pathetic, cynical ass out of my way so I can do my job!" ~ Daredevil
I assume he meant for Volume 3 to be hardcovers 7-9.
I've only ever managed to read a few physical copies, I've had to buy some copies from the Marvel Android app and I've managed to read all of Ultimate Spider-Man online >.<'
Up to Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #2 so I'll be looking forward to this, I was going to start collecting the HC versions but I'll wait and get this instead.
I don't mind how big it is, having it in 4-5 installments instead of like 12 HC copies or however many it'd be...
I take it that it'll run up until P.Parker dies?
whens the release date?
Does anyone know what the 'Death of Spiderman Omnibus' looks like? Is there an image or a website that shows it?
2000-2006: Golden Age of the UU
2007-2009: Age of Loebotomy
2009-2011: Post-Ultimatum Era
2011-????: Silver Age of the UU
The direct market (comic book stores, Talesofwonder.com and Cheapgraphicnovels.com) get it June 6th. Retailers (Amazon, Bookdepository, etc) get it June 20th but often they get it earlier. For example, Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 was supposed to be released from Amazon and such yesterday but its been available for a couple weeks.
As for how long it'll run, that remains to be seen. To collect the entire Peter Parker run is five volumes anyway you cut it but who knows where Miles Morales will be in five years time, they could transition straight into omnibusing that series as well.
I gotta say the Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man Trade Paperbacks are absolutely beautiful and there are only 4 of them until his death.. 5 if you include Ultimate fallout. I think they're a wise choice and you could just collect the first run Ultimate Spider-Man in Omnibus form, and then have a choice whether to buy Ultimate Comics Spider-Man omnibi(is that the plural?)
My guess(and hope) is it will be this, based on the fact that omnibus 1 has 40 total issues, and 135/40=3.38:
So
Omnibus 1- #1-39 and #1/2 (40 issues)
Omnibus 2- #40-#78 (38 issues)
Omnibus 3- #79-#120 (41 issues)
Omnibus 4- #121-#133, Ultimatum: Spider-Man Requiem #1-#2, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1-15, #150-#60 (39 issues)
Omnibus 5- Ultimate Fallout #1-6, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man vol. 2 #1-34
The 4 and 5 i'm a little iffy on. They could print Ultimate Comics Fallout in number 5, bringing it up to 44 issues.. and just reprint Ultimate Comics Fallout #4--like they did in Miles' first TPB--in Omnibus 5 and about 39 issues of Miles Morales.
But like I said I think I'm only gonna get the standard Ultimate Spider-Man omnibi and the rest in trade as they come out.
That doesn't make sense with what we know. Death of Spider-Man (essentially Vol 5 even though it comes out before 2-4) will collect 15,150-160, Fallout and Ult Avengers vs New Ultimates. Omnibus 4 will most likely end with #14 (which is where OHC 12 ends). Miles 1-30 something seems likely at some point if the plan to continue. It looks like if they follow through we'll end up with Omni 1-4 (if they continue to collect 3 OHCs/6 TPBs), Death and then maybe either Omni 5 or Miles Omni 1 (assuming they get far enough).
I suppose it's possible they'll double dip but who knows. I predict at least 3 years to get Omnibus 4.

I think they will double dip when the time comes for a few reasons:
1) The Death of Spider-Man omnibus is taking the place of the 13th OHC, its not a preemptive 5th omnibus
2) The Death of Spider-Man omnibus is based around collecting a specific event (as all three stories were branded) and event omnibuses happen all the time
3) The Death of Spider-Man omnibus is itself double dipping, as it includes the last quarter of the Ultimate Comics Avengers omnibus that was just released. I think an omnibus collecting Ultimate Comics Spider-Man is just as likely
4) The Death of Spider-Man omnibus will be long out of print by the time the normal omnibus line reaches that point.
And Tallis, you forgot Ultimate Six 1-7, which is smack dab in the middle of your volume 2.
This is how I see it going down:
Volume 2: 40-71, Ultimate Six 1-7 (39 issues, 984 pages)
Volume 3: 72-105, Annual 1-2 (37 issues (Annuals 1-2 add up to three issues worth, 944 pages)
Volume 4: 106-133, Ultimate Spider-Man: Requiem 1-2, Annual 3 (31 issues, 800 pages)
Volume 5: Ultimate Comics Spider-Man 1-15, USM 150-160, Ultimate Fallout #1, plus material from Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates #4, Ultimate Fallout #2, #4 and #6 (25 issues + two issues worth of excerpts, 662 pages)
I just can't see them including the non-Spider-Man relevant portions of Fallout and UAvNU into a book thats specifically about Spider-Man. And while they might stick to the "three hardcovers per book" thing and try to keep the Bagley run contained into the first three volumes, I think the pagecount of Volume 3 (1088) would be to much. It would almost certainly bump the book up into the 125 dollar range, while Ultimate Knights into Volume 4 keeps Volume 3 at 100 and bumps Volume 4 up from 75 to 100.
I'm not doubting your word but I would like to see for myself confirmation of the Death of Spider-Man omnibus, because that is great news!
Thanks!
Edit: Never mind, I found a topic about it and the amazon link
Awesome news.
