I sometimes wonder if a government cape from a place like Sudan or North Korea would be treated as a hero or a villain by the narrative. Would be interesting to explore, no? DC, for what it's worth, has a government-sanctioned (I think) Syrian hero who's a nice guy. Then again, Marvel's U.S. is arguably worse than both of the countries I mentioned, as I outlined in my "How could any moral hero work for the government?" thread.

And Canada is probably the most evil country in the world in the Marvel U.

I think I'd need one of those Marvel handbooks to tell me who some of these people are..

Forget the NEW Excalibur image at the top of the thread. You need the Classic line-up:

Or the particularly awesome Warren Ellis years:

Of course these days, Excalibur having become somewhat of a badly used brand, we have have Captain Britain & MI13:

In all fairness, most of it has apparently been co-opted by Hydra, as revealed in Secret Warriors, and what Hydra doesn't run, Sublime probably does. The MU!U.S. government just seems to be a much of mass-murdering douchebags on its own (except the Treasury Department, which was taken over by, you guessed it, Hydra).

This is Great, I had heard about maybe four or five of these teams before hand, I gotta pick some of these people up. I was so disappointed that Cadre K didn't show up during the Secret Invasion.

I saw no mention of Great Britain's Dark Guard (Tigon Liger, Dark Angel, Death's Head II, etc, etc)
Bring back my DC! In the meantime, make mine Marvel and Image!

Sword, when I checked the line-up, I noticed an Asian character on the team, Faiza Hussain. Says she's Pakistani, how were they handling her character? Asian British characters are pretty rare in popular fiction that's primarily aimed at an American audience.

At least it seems MI13 has a greater percentage of UK heroes than Excalibur ever did, much as I love Kitty, Ray, and Nightie.

Default Slorenia's utter failure at a team

Didn't the lamentably deceased country of Slorenia come up with the genius idea of zombie defenders as their ace-in-the-hole, only to slap their foreheads with a collective "Doh!" when they found themselves fighting for their lives versus (even second-grade) adamantium Ultrons?

During the Kree-Shi'ar war during galactic storm , the kree starforce was formed.

I always liked the classic starjammers.

In the past , Russia always had 2 groups that were kind of against one another - the people's proctatorate/supreme soviets and the soviet super soldiers. Eventually , they merge and became winter guard.
Always loved Perun , Vostok & Fantasma but David Gallagher killed a lot of the members of the old guard sadly in his mini series.

    Ask, and ye shall receive:

Early Dan Abnett and Carlos Pacheco. Effectively eXiles, years before there WAS an eXiles...

Death's Head II, Dark Angel, Albion, Ultramarine, Col Tigon Liger, Stacy Arnheim, Motormouth and Killpower.

A rarity, yes. Faiza is a British born Muslim, but thankfully was written as anything but a stereotype. A young doctor (and somewhat of a superhero fanboy) who gained powers in the first arc of the book. I personally felt she was handled pretty well, avoiding the obvious trappings which US comics tend to allow such characters to fall into. If you haven't read the series I'd certainly recommend it.

Certainly. A much more considered line-up. Although I'd much rather have had Nightcrawler involved than what happened to him in the X-Men of recent times...

Only one - Steel Guardian. He brought back Vanguard, Darkstar, and Dimitri (Cirimson Dynamo) to the main team. Perun and Vostok are still out there, Fantasma became a villain - as Mantlo had always suggested she would - and now there is an Ultra Dynamo too.

Winter Guard - Vanguard, Crimson Dynamo (Dimitri), Darkstar, Ursa Major.
AWOL: Sibercat, Blind Faith, Ultra Dynamo, Red Guardian (Anton), Starlight, Perun, Vostok, Fantasma, Sputnik
Dead: Steel Guardian, Powersurge, Darkstar II, Darkstar III, most of the other Red Guardians and Crimson Dynamos

Oh please, someone change the official English translation of my home team's name, "Triumph" is more known here as a brand name for women's lingerie. And the hero names as well.

Yeah, but he was the most developed and my favorite Guardian. As for those still unaccounted for, you can add Seraph from the New Defenders days. She was an albino strong woman with ill-defined emotional powers that infiltrated the Secret Empire for the Russians. There should also be a Devastator, though it's anybody's guess who'd that be. There is also a russian female windcaster that has appeared in a couple of What If's tales, thoughh I don't think the 616 version has been introduced yet. Instead of restringing the membership as Galhagar did (and although I disliked most of the fates he gave the characters in his mini-series, I really enjoyed it), I always thought that the Russians would have all its metahumans join a sort of Russian super-army. Would be interesting, IMHO.

    Peace
