I think they haven't really gone over it but from the looks of things, it's just a mental thing again, like when he lost motivation when Miyata turned down his challenge to fight RBJ.

Pretty sure Ippo will shed off that rust he's been building once he gets to the world stage, which will be covered of course.
...You know on the other hand...I don't give a damn bout Itagaki and his goal for the now vacant title.![]()

As a boxing fan this manga means a lot to me especially due to all those references and hints they put around a real life boxing tactics and people....and as a regular out-boxer fighter my favorite of the series is Miyata = )
I'd like to think that Miyata will echo his father and give Itagaki a career-ending injury to establish clearly that even after all this time, he's still the guy Ippo needs to beat.
Seriously got no problem with stuffing Itagaki's arc into the fridge if it gives Ippo the push he needs.

is it wrong It hink this fight will be like at the end of the series, and before it even starts they end it on the first punch thrown?
also, I think Kamogawa has some responsibility for the ippo getting weaker thing. Like, did he not trust Ippo to keep making him take title defenses?
Does it feel like that to anyone else?
