Interesting article. Though very apologetic for the creative dead-end that Marvel comics is at times. I've got no problems with events, as long as Marvel would stop shoving the hype machine down our throats. Stop telling us "It's going to change the status quo forever" as it never does. Populist comics like Marvel's don't want to change the status quo, ever. To do that would mean killing off a character like Wolverine for good or having the X-men turn into a villain team for a decade. Neither the publisher, nor the reader, wants that. They both want predictability, people are generally averse to change.
Just stop telling us, things are going to change irreparably Marvel. We don't want that and neither do your accountants. You just end up making yourself look silly as things stay almost exactly the same every time.
“He’s thrown a kettle over a pub, what have you done?”
I wish they would confirm in advance that the X-Men will crush the Avengers. I am not interested if they're going to job the x-men.

Took the words out of my mouth.
That said, I do think events are here to stay. There's money to be made here, as much as I or anyone who are tired of events would think otherwise. But there's just something inside me that wants to believe that Marvel isn't about short-term gains, or that fans would someday wake up and stop buying overhyped events. Sickeningly positive, but there you go.
I won't tell anyone to 'get over' events, but I won't stand for it either.

Pulls: The Sixth Gun, Wolverine and the X-Men, Daredevil, Uncanny X-Force, Supergirl
I completely agree. After Schism, I just want to see X-men stories play out with the current state of affairs. I'm exhausted just thinking about another big event! Can't the house of ideas come up with some original stories for each book without some huge, mega-important crossover event?
It depends on what the stakes are. We don't truly know what the real catalyst points will be. We know the X-Men are anti-Wanda and pro-Hope. We assume the Avengers are pro-Wanda and want to control Hope. I don't see how Wolverine could be pro-Wanda but that may just be ignored.
