Terribly disappointed in this article. Bob Kane was not the sole creator of Batman. I wish that this lie would stop being proffered by people who should know better. Kane had the idea for a "Batman" character. Bill Finger created the origin; the cowl and scalloped cape; the utility belt; the list goes on and on. The origin alone is a pivotal part of the character, not to mention the look of the costume. Kane's Batman had a red costume, a domino mask, blond hair, and fake wings. So who created Batman?
Oh my. This is sad, sad news. RIP, sir.

May he rest in peace. A legend of legends. He will be missed but never forgotten. As a huge, huge Batman fan - this guy helped create one of my favorite passions. Thank you Mr. Robinson!
RIP, Mr Robinson, and kudos to him for creating one of the best villains of all time, even if he can't get credit for Batman.
Another legend gone. Rest in peace, Mr. Robinson, you will be missed.
The answer: BOB KANE PRODUCTIONS! It wasn't a lie--Kane was THE BOSS and as such, it all belonged to him regardless of who helped him. And that bit about the blonde hair is just another one of those leaps of logic given "credibility" by people who should read the information before they pass it on. Finger said the original Bat-Man "...looked very much like Superman" with bat-wings. Superman isn't a blonde.
Getting back to the thread, Jerry Robinson shall definitely be missed by this Bat-Fan. Not so much for his art although I love his brushwork on those Kane stories, especially in BATMAN (Quarterly) #1--I don't think he ever topped himself after that. He gave us insight into the workings of the Kane Studio and if not for his imput, Robin's name would have been "Mercury" (Kane) or "Wildcat" (Finger) with Prof. Hugo Strange as Batman's arch-foe! Given these, I think his greatest contribution was the training of STEVE DITKO who would go on to give us the definitive Spider-Man!
Not bad for a guy who Bob Kane found selling ice cream near a tennis court!
May you dwell in Paradise, Mr. Robinson...

This is thread is about honoring Jerry Robinson, not about the question of who deserves more/all credit, Finger or Kane. I don't mean to say that debate is disallowed, but it isn't the topic of conversation here, Jerry Robinson is.
Jerry Robinson was one of the greats, and deserves to be honored. To the memory of the man who helped created Robin and the Joker, his work will live on, for generations to come to enjoy.
