I don't understand the douchy attitude towards Wizard. I grew up on that mag and loved it. Am I missing something? What's the reason for all the hate?
That review reminded me that I've got The Last Christmas kicking around somewhere unread - I'll have to read that next (if I manage to finish Luba before Christmas - that book is a behemoth)
Just got in the Parker: Martini Edition. Might that fill the void? It's friggin' beautiful. The best thing that could possibly happen if "Watchmen 2" is for real? DC might choose that project as an excuse to finally publish an "Absolute The Spirit by Darwyn Cooke" volume. There's a bare spot on the bottom shelf of my bookcase, just aching for it. "Absolute New Frontier" looks so lonely there…
I saw actor Brian Posehn at a comics convention talking to people about that comic book a few years ago. Kind of strange seeing people you've seen on television in real life.
Missed out on the McFarlane Santa card. Is that what Santa looks like in Canada?![]()
Wizard was a blight on comics kind for far too long. I wonder if there's a web page that summarizes everything wrong with the magazine, from its shoddy journalism to its awful attitude towards comics to its dismissal of comics in favor of Hollywood. I'm afraid trying to summarize it all right here would be impossible. Surely, someone has a good recap somewhere... If I find one, I'll post it in a future Pipeline.
Though using the word "douchy" to characterize my description of Wizard immediately tipped me off to the fact that you'd be a Wizard fan...

Augie, 1) thanks for posting the wizard response. I stared to, and then couldn't figure out how to summarize. And I visited the place and knew people that worked there. I even looked for such a link, but if you google the subject you'll find out what you need to know.
2) it just so happens that the same Martini edition is back on Thwipster.com. and it is damn good...
