While I've never really had much of a problem with him... this part here should get a good lot of posters rejoicing:

And not only will 2012 will be a particularly big year for Marvel's top-billed super team, it will also mark Bendis' last year working on the Avengers titles. The writer began crafting the adventures of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in 2004, and after eight years, he's finally ready to bring his run to an end.

So he's off. I expect to see the internet weeping with joy, followed by a horrendous crash in sales...

Bendis leaving the Avengers is TRULY the end of an historic era -- whether you're a fan of his work or not, he's had likely the biggest impact on the Avengers since their beginning. Thanks, Brian.

I'm a little worried about that too honestly.

Hopefully post Bendis, they have an A list creative team ready to take up the slack.

Seriously though, his earlier work was decent ( I hope they put a good replacement on the book)

Yeah. Love him or hate him, it's a legitimate concern.

Well, hopefully this'll free him up a bit to work on Powers and Scarlet more often since he's dropping three books. In terms of non-creator owned work, does this just mean he's on Ultimate Spider-Man and Moon Knight? Huh.

My hopes for the new writers?

    Avengers - Jonathan Hickman
    Avengers Assemble - Dan Slott
    New Avengers - BKV
This just in: Chris Sprouse has pulled out of Orson Scott Card.

LOL @ the tv references. "Breaking Bad", "The West Wing". What, no love for "Charles in Charge"? Plaudits were being doled out for all the television series...

So as long as they promote it heavily like they did with Aaron's Hulk it'll be fine without him.

New Avengers will probably be gone when Bendis is gone I imagine. Maybe they'll debut a new title (West Coast Avengers?).. but New Avengers is basically a Bendis vanity project... can't see it continuing without him.
I'd just like everyone to know that not only am I dropping Marvel, I'm dropping this forum considering I'm not even allowed to voice a negative opinion because a thread "isn't about me".

    Fixed--and quoted for truth.

I am jumping for joy. For the first time since 2004, I might actually be able to buy, read and enjoy The Avengers. I am absolutely ecstatic. Can't wait to find out who the new writer is, woo-hoo!!

Ah, Marvel...maybe there is hope for you after all. What wonderful news! YAY!!!
