So Marvel are putting out a point one issue from last year? Seems a bit strange and counter-productive. Unless there's some good reason for it to be reissued.

Well, yeah - it's basically the prologue to the Ultron War, which is Marvel's next Avengers event.

Anybody on here a retailer? My local comic shop guy is a friend of mine, and he says he's lost money every year. The people who come in either are new to the shop and never buy anything or come back (unless it's the next year's FCBD), or they're regulars who buy what they usually do and take free stuff. Then he has to ward off people looking to grab piles of stuff to e-bay (at least one admitted to that intention) because the regional chain store in the mall down the street (Newbury Comics, mainly a music/movie/misc. store that has a small section for comics) lets people do that. I'm hoping he's just having a bad experience and the majority of retailers don't have the same happen.

    I am.

We make a bundle every FCBD - the additional sales on the day more than pay for the free comics.

Mine has similar stories. People who only come in for free stuff; regulars who take all the books they can, even when they have no interest in the book.

I do believe that was the new avengers .1 issue that you are thinking of. This is The Avengers .1 issue, and completely different story(the other issue was Norman Osborn's escape from custody, drawn by Neal Adams).

The Dark Horse offering, is that a NEW Serenity story?

Marvel normally puts out two books for FCBD and IIRC they sometimes announce them separately so their may be another book to come.

Then again, detaisl haven't been announced but next year there will apparently be a second event simialr to FCBD around Halloween so maybe they're scaling back the May FCBD offer.

Well, YEAH, but it's been Marvel standard for a while now to write and draw a new story for FCBD. They've obviously chosen this because of both the film and the fact that it trails a big story that's about to start.

Avengers #12.1 came out this past April.

I was under the impression that the big event next year was an X-Men/Avengers crossover involving the Phoenix, not Ultron. Unless they are the same thing but that doesn't seem to make sense. It's obvious Ultron War is coming but I doubt it is the big event.

I'm pal-y with one of the LCS owners in my town and he always pulls in big bucks. He also takes the opportunity to unload back issues he's having trouble moving or got in excessive bulk, and offers moderate discounts on trades and hardcovers that result in pretty massive sales.
