Sure ya can! Ya just crack the sucker open! Or, get a book that has it reprinted. At least she got what she paid for and it's pretty much guaranteed to not have tear seals, color touches, pieces added, etc....

Of course. The emoticon (not to mention the wheedling spelling of "read") showed I was teasing, I hope.

I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.

Rest assured, a photo of every single slabbed & graded books I own is included every time I post.

Yep.
Here's what an unslabbed copy is going for right now on eBay (using the time-stamp on this post) The seller's unslabbed copy of VG/FINE would score a 5.0 on the CGC scale but the price is almost 1/3 more than what I got a better graded copy for...

Simply put, if anyone was looking for a copy of this book, the slabbed copy was the better deal....not just in terms of lower price, but professionally graded and awarded a point higher.

And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
You can't really judge ask prices on Ebay. 99% of them are way over fair market value. Here's the last year's worth of (actual) sell prices on GPA's records for CGC 6.0 copies.
Jan-15-2012 $249 Cert# 0800218002
Dec-28-2011 $236 Cert# 0913249008
Jun-12-2011 $240 Cert# 0913249008
The GPA service is about 10 bucks per month, but for CGC graded comics you get real data instead of "guide" estimates. If you're confident in the grade of a non-certified comic, it's a useful tool for those as well.
If you ever want data on a comic shoot me a PM and I'll look it up for you.
BTW, congrats on the excellent pick-up!
I just noticed your PM with your buy price. You didn't steal the comic, but you certainly did well. Whoever the seller is gave you a very fair price.

It sure is, isn't it. I didn't even notice the serial numbers matching. That was cool of him to let go one from his own collection.
I posted this in the other thread when I bought it, but it just arrived a few days ago. It's probably better suited for this thread since it's slabbed. I'm hoping more fantastic plastic owners will come out of the closet.

Very nice pick-up Jez. I definitely agree with you that those big old mastheads are really cool. I love the look of the old Action, Adventure, Detective, and Sensation books. When they moved to the smaller logos, they lost a bit of their charm.
And I certainly buy a few that are slabbed, but I always crack them out right away, so sorry guys, no pics for the thread.![]()
Just wanted to show off my CGC collection:

and my Signature Series

I've got about 13 slabs myself...and soon to be 16, as I just sent off another submission at the end of March.
For me, its 3x the excitement for raw books I plan to send off; first the actual purchase, then actually packing them up and submitting them, and then of course waiting with anticipation on the grades! Then rinse/repeat.
Ahhh having OCD and collecting comic books....a match made in heaven!
Might as well play along....
