That's the Mignola "Year of Monsters" cover variant for The Long Death #1.
"Okay, I know I said I wasn't going to shake things up, but we're going to have to get some pants on this one."
It's not great quality, but from what I can tell Exorcism (#1?) has a great cover <3
Pulling: Whispers, 2000AD, Red Sonja: Unchained, Amala's Blade, Princeless
I love this way more than preview pages. Showing a little glimpse of a panel, it's all I need to sell the book to me. It lets the story keep its secrets too.

From the Newsarama interview:
Newsarama: You've also got Cameron Stewart coming up in June with B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: Exorcism!. You're working with him again?Cool.
Mike Mignola: I am! I had worked with him really briefly on a very short story in a B.P.R.D. collection. My editor was in touch with him, and Cam wanted to do some writing.
So we thought, well, here's something we could try. Here's kind of an experiment. Why don't we take this character, Ashley Strode, who'd been established in B.P.R.D., but was a character who just appeared in maybe one issue, wasn't the main character, but she was a character that I liked and John didn't have any plans for her. So I thought we could turn her over to Cam.
And Cam's story also includes another character -- one that I created -- that I wasn't necessarily planning to do anything with, so I thought, why don't we put them together? So you'll see a familiar face.
So we let Cam take the lead on that story. I mean, I had an idea of where this thing could start, but what I really wanted to do was work with Cam, come up with an idea of how these characters would get together, and what kind of story he would start telling, and then let Cameron go, and take this character where he wanted to take that character.
The idea was, while it's still my character and it's still part of the B.P.R.D. world, since we have no future plans for this character, let Cameron take her, and hopefully he'll do this story and come back to do more stories with this character. And just take her wherever he wants to take her.![]()
A hint of more Ash? YES! :D
Cameron's been posting some teasers today on Twitter.
Kate Corrigan
Ashley (101% certain it's her) watching the titular exorcism
No spoilers there, of course, just two really cool panels. I love how clear his art is.
ASHLEY! <3 *Squees and runs around in circles*
I can see the outline of your bra, hun...
As good as the Cameron Stewart panels look to me, I think I cannot manage to be liking the cover very much.
Mostly due to the weirdly "cel-shaded" seeming light or firy bits. But also the coloring style or rendering of it as a whole, as if this cover for me personally would be appearing along mainstreamy type-of-stuff a little too much.
"Mainstreamy" - in the sense of "oh look, spunky teenager walking tall in trendy jacket despite big meany monster-eyed monster in the dark..."
Although it could happen of course, me not liking a cover. The world would keep on turning likely.
And of course I shouldn't be jumping to conclusions just yet. Plus I mustn't be looking at things one-sidedly.
But I'm hoping each new title within the Hellboy-verse may manage to be about story enticement most graphically and fully, regardless of special agegroups or trends - or never merely for the sake of catering to such? Each title, so including this one I suppose. I guess we'll see.

The fire, I believe, is very similar to how Mignola draws it - it's the same style used by artists who emulate Mignola's style in the B.P.R.D. comics. I would assume it's a nod to Mignola.
The more I look at the cover, the more flaws I have with it (the jacket looks a bit short, you can see the outline of one of the bra cups, her hair seems to sit high on her head, her pose looks a little awkward), but I do like it. She also seems to look fairly different from Stewart's concepts (the ones posted on ComicsAlliance alongside an interview with him) and even the not-that-great drawing/colouring he did of her a few weeks back. Similar, but different.
But it's Ashley. So I'm happy. I'm gonna buy it and frame it :D

And here's another
Can't say I find that one particularly interesting, though. But we'll see.
