    Default Green Wake

A new thread for Image Shadowline's ongoing series, Green Wake.

This Wednesday, Green Wake #7 comes out and I wanted to start talking a bit about the series and to get a little more active in the forum communities. For those who never got a chance to read the first issue, here's a link for a digital reader where you can have a read through the entire thing for free:

    http://dailydead.com/exclusive-free-...-green-wake-1/

The TPB came out September 21st and the new arc started October 26th. Here's a few preview pages from issue #6.

Also, I am the writer of the series, I'll answer any questions you have or will keep up a dialog just for a chat. Thanks!

I'm enjoying the series but I have to admit, I had to reread #1-5 to really get what was going on ... but that could be because I read over 80 titles a month too. BUT, I enjoyed it and I'll keep reading. I find once I do that reread thing with any series after a few issues are out, I'm okay from then on.

One question, and maybe I just missed this, but have you explained why Kreiger looks the way he does? Or why some other characters are non-human? Are we to believe Green Wake accepts people from different worlds or do they get "reinterpreted", so to speak once they enter?

    Thanks, man!

Yeah, we briefly touched on it in Issue #5, Krieger surmises that the more people run from their problems, the more toad-like they become. We'll be answering that more definitively very soon, we've been giving some solid answers in this second arc, we aren't really introducing a lot of new mysteries, simply shedding light on what we've already raised.

Awesome, make sure to check out that link I provided, you can read all of Issue #1 and if it's up your alley, you can pick up the trade that collects the first five issues.

Series artist Riley Rossmo gives an in-depth process behind an exclusive page. Check out a really awesome insight into the development of Green Wake.

Green Wake is by far one of the best things on the shelves today.

    Default A special comic.

Green Wake has become my favorite monthly comic. Riley Rossmo's art is always great (looking forward to Rebel Blood). Riley's art with the story by Kurtis Wiebe makes this book a special one. PICK this one up, you won't regret it... just don't get lost in the panels. JD

    Thanks John and DoolBnoom!

It's been really awesome to see Green Wake on a stack of Best of 2011 lists, far more than I ever expected and we're both super proud of the series.

Thanks for everyone's support, we really appreciate it.

I read the first trade a little while back and loved it! One of Image's better books (and that's saying something these days, their quality has sharply risen!). I would recommend the book to any fan of horror/supernatural/mystery.

I also had a question about why Morley came back, but the preview above answers that. So never mind! :)

The only part that confused me...

    SPOILER!!!

......was the end of issue #5. Did Morley come back to Green Wake b/c he started to blame himself again for his wife's death?
Yup. If you follow the series after #5 (#6 came out in October) you'll discover that Morley is back in Green Wake and it's largely to do with him giving into his grief.

this is the second series I started reading based solely on Riley's art... at first I was a little ho-hum about it and definitely found it difficult to stop drawing parallels to Fallen Angel and Bette Noire. I read the first 2 issues and then up through #5 just kind of piled up. Once I got #6 I sat down and read them all in a row; that really made all the different in the world. I really ended up liking the first arc much more than I thought I would. As of now that's kind of my plan for this series... I love my floppies, so no trade-waiting, but I am rather planning to just hang on to the issues until an arc is over and I can get into it all at once.

Looking forward to where this is going; I'll be sticking around. :)
