    I'll be shocked if he doesn't miss multiple playoff games this year, if not the first series all together, and that could cost LA dearly.

    Incidentally, for a franchise that has generally been one of the worst in the league over the past several seasons, they've had horrible draft luck. Outside of that year they got Okafor at #2, they've kind of gotten crap luck with draft picks.

    it was surprising to see the lakers come back & win that game yesterday... okc really went pretty cold there to close out regulation.

    artest is a nutjob, plain & simple. no big loss if he's gone for a playoff series or the rest of the season in my mind. what he did was clearly intentional and not part of a celebration. he's already gotten his second chance, i say make sure that this penalty lets him & other players know the severity of similar actions that do not belong in the nba.
    and i'm counting 1, counting 2, counting 3...

    That's what happens when one of the team's best players gets carted off the court in the first half.

    Anyone think the Bobcats win a game before the season is over?

    Some of the picks Hiromi listed (Monte Ellis, Paul Milsap, Marc Gasol) were not realistic choices for where Charlotte was picking in the first round in their respective drafts, given the information and evaluation of the players at the time of their respective drafts. Naming people like them and Andrew Bynum are more cases of revisionist theory than acting on scouting evaluations and potential at that time.

    Emeka Okafor (No. 2, 2004) and Raymond Felton (No. 5, 2005) were solid, workmanlike players who produced during their time in Charlotte. Okafor was worth 14 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game and Felton averaged 13.3 points and 6.45 assists per game during their time in Charlotte. Moreover, both were "consolation prizes" for the Bobcats just missing out on perennial all-stars (Dwight Howard in 2004; Deron Williams and Chris Paul in 2005).

    Where Charlotte killed itself in the draft was with four picks:

    * Sean May at No. 13 in 2005 (Danny Granger went at No. 18);
    * Adam Morrison at No. 3 in 2006 (when Rudy Gay and Brandon Roy -- considered arguably the best two players in the draft -- were on the board);
    * D.J. Augustin at No. 9 (despite needing a center and Brook Lopez was on the board) and Alexis Ajinca at No. 20 (with Serge Ibaka, Courtney Lee and Nicolas Batum still on the board) in 2008.

    May, Morrison, Ajinca and Augustin were considered marginal NBA prospects from the beginning. While it's fair to wait on assessing Kemba Walker (No. 7, 2011), I questioned the Bobcats selecting him when Charlotte already has a six-foot guard who is a low-percentage scorer (Augustin) and Walker's apparently limited potential. Fellow rookie Bismack Biyombo (No. 7, 2011) looks like he needs a lot of work on his game, but he has shown good shot-blocking skills. So far, Biyombo is basically a clone of Ibaka.

    Gerald Henderson (No. 12, 2009) has shown development this year, but it is still questionable whether he was a better choice than Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson and Darren Collison. Though I will admit that Henderson has exceeded any expectation I had for him as an NBA player.

    In addition, Charlotte has hurt itself with mostly questionable trades. In 2008, Charlotte traded Jason Richardson and former 2007 first-round pick Jared Dudley to Phoenix for Raja Bell and Boris Diaw. A year ago, it traded the best player in its history (Gerald Wallace) for basically a 2013 first-round pick from Portland and then traded Stephen Jackson for Corey Maggette. And despite having the arguably most iconic player in NBA history as its majority owner, Charlotte is not remotely a player in free agency.

    Based on how Charlotte played Memphis tough on Friday night, I thought if the Bobcats played like that in its final four games it had a chance to win at least one game. Sacramento and Washington are bad teams but with better overall talent, Orlando has injuries and just heard Dwight Howard would miss the rest of the season and New York is schizophrenic with trying to make the Carmelo Anthony-Amare Stoudemire marriage work.

    But if Sunday night's disaster against Sacramento was an indication, the question becomes whether the Bobcats will lose each game by 20 points or 30 points.
