Isn't Black Friday shopping supposed to be about deals? I bought that Donald Duck Carl Barks book on Amazon for like $13, nowhere close to the price linked to in the article. I was hoping for an article linking to some competitive pricing.

    Yeah that's weird.
There's 99c sales on comixology and in the apple app store games for Black Friday, but no mention here.
Hickman's initial FF run, all Blackest Night mini's and tie-ins and all IDW Star Trek comics are 99c on comixology.
    I'm not you.
    So you know I'm right.

Um...Robot 6 did a whole post of deals that we linked to at the very top of this piece. Did no one read that?

Also: I think I missed the law of the internet that said all gift guides for the shopping season had to be only about deals. Tom Spurgeon routinely does the very best gift guide on planet earth, and his has nothing to do with price whatsoever:

I really don't mean to be rude, but maybe sometimes you guys should critique articles based on how successful they do what they set out to do and not what you arbitrarily decide they should be trying to do.

    No.
The introduction pieces on articles here are usually quite skippable.

They generally just link to other articles.

    Black Friday = Sales.

The article was called 'Black Friday Comics Shopping Guide'.

Maybe you should take note that the title of the article made people expect one thing, and instead they got another.

Also, the article is aimed at the casual comic consumer, so don't worry too much about us geeks who already had CBR forum memberships.

Look, I want the articles to be useful and informative to people on the boards. You guys are our bread and butter readership, and if I'm not putting out stuff you find useful, I'm probably doing a REALLY bad job here.

But it's hard when I go out of my way to tell Jonah that I think it'd be nice of us to do a Holiday Shopping Guide for the readers when we haven't in the past, and then I coordinate that with the staff and spend my Friday after Thanksgiving prepping and posting that thing instead of laying around watching TV, and THEN people seem to get angry about that.

I mean, I could almost understand someone thinking at its face that an article with this title automatically mean deals, but the subhead on the front page AND the introduction both clearly state what the intent of this is: to give you a guide of cool stuff that's been releases recently that you can possibly forward to your families for ideas so you don't get shafted on Christmas morning.

So looking at those facts and then coming here to see people complaining that this whole thing didn't match their own personal expectations based on three words...you can see how that kind of attitude can be frustrating to someone in my position, right?

I thought it was a fine Holiday buying guide. But, the title said Black Friday, which means big sales. That's why people get on the Net at midnight, or get up at 3 a.m. to get in line.

And, too bad about those keychains being in blind boxes; that would've been cute.

Default There was a deal featured:

Wow, I was just reading through and thought that the last entry sounded a lot like my artwork. Imagine my surprise when I clicked the link and it went to my etsy shop! Thanks for including me! Anyway, I am offering a deal of 11 percent off for hand-make comic book portraits and caricatures. Check them out:
