You'll have to introduce paragraphs into the massive block of text if you want anybody at all to even try to read it.

'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

JJ, I get that you like Hercules as a hero, and goodness knows after his latest issue of Wonder Woman I can emphathize with your feelings of frustration about how a character is portrayed.

But in the context of the DCU Heracles, to suggest that this was not rape?

I'm sorry, but the most generous description I can give to the idea is icky.

If anything, what I saw in issue 3 suggests to me that Zeus used his own powers to coerce Hippolyta, except in this version she was to written as too naive to notice or too horny to care. Either way, I found it an unpleasant read.

I am looking for a ramatic fantasy in the Wonder Woman stories and they do not include rape.

To be fair, its fairly accurate to the original myths, especially Hippolyta's story, though having Heracles be the rapist (especially during his Labors, without being unduly influenced by Hera) is more than a little weird. I mean, I can understand why they didn't have him just murder her, but why not use Theseus, who actually abducted and impregnated her in some of the stories?

Though of course, Hippolytus' existence would also be kinda weird given that Diana was formed out of Hippolyta's desire for a child leading her to beg the Gods to grant her one, and that child being the reincarnation of the baby that died in her womb when she was murdered by her mate 32,000 years ago.

An adult woman having consensual sex and romance with a married man who came to her?

Yeah, the woman was obviously thrown out of church and strayed off the beaten path.
If anyone has to be criticized in this setting, it's Zeus.

Hell yes. I would have happier if Heracles had slain some of the Amazons and imprisoned the rest but not got around to doing anything worse to them before they escaped.

    No way.

Clearly he is a cad, and deserves to be called that. But suggesting Hippolyta should carry no blame would be to suggest that all the women Tiger Woods slept with did nothing wrong, even though they all knew he was married.

You cheat on your partner who trusts you, you've done the wrong thing. You help someone else do it, you've done the wrong thing. That's just where I stand on the subject. And no, love is not an excuse.

The fact remains Zeus treats his wife like a joke, and Hippolyta agreed to be part of the punchline.

To me thats less than Amazon.

I think we're done with this thread. Let's not go there again.
