Marvel is taking a HUGE risk with adding the villain from the post-credits scene. If they can't pull this off properly then it could be the downfall of the MCU as we know it.

I don't really think so. I haven't seen The Avengers yet, but my youngest brother, who is not a comics fan at all, did and stayed through the end. He mentioned spoilers:
    Thanos
end of spoilers, but also said that it was just some purple guy who looked liked a Skrull. (I have no idea where he got the idea that it was a Skrull from.) I tried to explain who spoilers:
    Thanos
end of spoilers was as far as the comics, but he wasn't really interested when I broke it down. As far as he's concerned (as a non-comics fan), The Avengers was awesome, and the guy at the very end was cool as Loki.

What's really cool is that he went with his friend and his friend's five year old son, who is absolutely obesessed with the Avengers now. I had a bunch of Stern/Buscema and Englehart/Milgrom (the good stuff) Avengers comics sitting in a closet back home, and he gave them all to the kid with my blessing. I think we'll have another lifelong comics fan on our hands!

    spoilers:
Sweet! Actually when I saw it again on Friday I noticed that the guy who was talking to Loki and Thanos looked rather Skrully. Of course my friend had no idea who Thanos was nor what a Skrull was so there I was freaking the hell out and she's just scratching her head.

What I meant by risk is that Thanos brings a TON of weirdness along with him. As much as I want a Guardians of the Galaxy I don't know if mainstream audiences would buy a talking tree and raccoon...in space.
    end of spoilers

Not surprised there's no Batwing, folks on the DC boards have been more quick to say save "I, Vampire" and write Batwing off as another batbook when Batwing is really one of DC's best book and one of the few I get. I read I, Vampire and it's utter garbage

Anything can be pulled off with good writing and execution. If one thing comic fans have that is assbackwards..is they often blame characters for their shortcomings and not the creative staff or editorial.

Blade did well (when not ghettoized)..but I would be remiss not to mention that minority and women characters have a tougher hill to climb in gaining acceptance. Elektra for example was way better than both Ghost Rider & Punisher films and tho mediocre it wasnt supported much. Meanwhile films that were downright garbage got more build up--The Punisher.

I love Batwing, that comic is really fresh and slightly more original to me. Ivampire is okay, personally I'm a little vampired out.

The character kind of resembles a skrull if you go buy that chin. And its not like we get a full body shot or a long look at him. Moreover its not like this character has been shown a lot outside of comics. I can think of one mediocre cartoon from the 90's and thats it. I think its understandable for many people who aren't regular comic readers and readily familiar with the marvel universe over the last 10 years or posting on message boards regularly to not know who that character is.

Man I'm really worried about DC. If Batwing goes that will leave me with only 7 regular DC titles. And with Avengers kicking but DC might be in a real bind.

Think like a Man outgrossed John Carter by 3 million..total 73 MILLION in only 2,100 theaters.
Like Red Tails which was only in 2,200 at peak capacity..strange that Act of Valor was in 3,200 Theaters.

Why is it that minority movies only play in 1/3 the theaters of other movies? Shouldnt a chain at least try to showcase diverse entertainment..especially when they make money,,Think like a man;s per screen average was $3,900 second highest to the Avengers.

And red Tails was higher than Act of Valor..It was just ghettoized in the Theaters..IE no support by owners.
