It was too send a message , no race likes jokes made of them. Yes SNL went a totally overboard way. And yes ...no black people that I know of have made jokes about Lin like that or hypocrites. Its to point and say , you sure as hell wouldn't make jokes like that about a black person. So respect him to not do the same.

But you proved my point. You came away with the sketch with this..Not that everybody was wrong.

That is my problem with the sketch. It gave a WHITEOUT of the overall problem. Those two black columnist dont control media outlets or whats being said or written on a day to day basis.

It was a whitewash skit/ I dont blame you for MISSING THE POINT. The sketch was designed to make whites feel better.

And it worked. youve talked more about the black guys then any news organization or the whole CHink affair.

The skit intended to show that there was a double standard on ESPN's part. That racist take about Blacks would have been called out but racist talk regarding Asians gets a pass.

The skit also made it look like Blacks only care about racist talk against them.

But in reality, Mayweather's been called out twice now for his b.s.

Once by Spike Lee on Twitter and just now on national T.V. by Magic Johnson (who always was a class act).

So that part is kinda incoherent.

It showed just how wrong it could be really. By being that tacky to do jokes and all bout his race was completely assholish . They didn't like it as we saw. So the moral was , maybe you should respect Lin's race and not do horrible jokes like we saw.

Except the black columnists was there to send the moral of the joke you seem to be not getting. They were basically there to send a message that , hey .. this is wrong to them. They know how it feels when someone goes too far (a white guy at the end) and he was fired.

So at the end of the day , it was more about how we should respect every race more beyond dumb jokes like we saw .

    .
Oh I think SNL really gave a good look at that really. The fired part was to mock ESPN for firing that at the end of the sketch. But the overall lesson seemed to be , no race likes to be made jokes out of. Did they push it far ... yeah.

    Yeah right.

I guarantee you the only things whites got out of it was "me love you long time , Lin hits three." And hah looks at those blacks they dont like it when it happens to them.

Im sure Im gonna hear that at least 100 times tomorrow. With no hint bout racial tolerance.

The sketch did not show Whites being as racist as the blacks. That is my main beef.

Thats what pissed me off as well.

It was saying that backs could get away with it. As was mentioned before..Spike lee and other black media figures denounced them and are calling for their firing as well.

Why wasnt that in the skit?

ex. White guy fired. Then have a phone call from Sharpton and Lee to those black commentators. And have the black guy say..I think were fired too.

If that was done I wouldnt have problem with the sketch.

You mean where Hader obviously did the parody of Lin talking to make it sound racist ? Or the part where he was the host allowing it all ? Because as the sketch showed , Hader's character was allowing it all and even joined in .

they didnt show him doing the voice. Which would have been a more powerful statement.

As it stood any one of them could have been doing the voice.

I think I agree with almost everyone to a certain degree.

The moral was that it shouldn't be acceptable to say that crap to any race.

However, because of the execution, I'm pretty sure the alternative take Roland is talking about will be a common interpretation. It's cynical, but I've definitely seen it happen a lot. Even by so called Liberals.

I think in watching we could tell it was Hader. Since he does mostly all the impressions on the show. In all we did get a statement . It maybe one you may think wasn't powerful enough , but with it ...having Hader being in charge there of the program and allowing it all to happen not good.
