Damn good stuff. Best Quote..there is reality and there is Movie reality ( with the caveat--no attempt at portraying a hint of realism).

One could say the same for comics.

As I said before, it's not a secret, everybody knows about it, damn near every minority actor has complained about it, but nothing with be done about it because it doesn't effect the "mainstream" in any obvious way.

Excuses will be made, ignorance will be feigned, first hand accounts will be dismissed...business as usual. At the most we might get one of those Hollywood patting itself on the back moments where they spotlight one actor or actress before toss them in the "not wanted" dumpster.

I can't be the only one who read 'Steve McQueen' and thought it was this guy:

How unbelievably cool would that be if he came back from the grave to speak about a grave injustice?

Anyways, I will listen to the interview when I get home.

Before I clicked the link, I thought "Steve McQueen's been dead for 30 years, this interview must be pretty old".

That is why the net may be the future of alt cinema of all sorts.

Eliminate the studio altogether and go straight to Netflix or the likes. Stuff like Besuro (great flick-go see it) or Attack The Block(Ditto) can bypass the cultural guardian and go straight to the mass market.

The thing will be for the creators to figure out how to get PAID from streaming.

How about licensing their content to Hulu, Netflix or the iTunes Store?

That is a lengthy and difficult process. First you have to find someone at one of those outlets that will talk to an independent production company. Then convince them to watch your product. Then convince them that despite the market trends it's a good idea to offer your product on their portal... Then they have to believe in it enough to take it to their bosses and literally fight for it.
Building up a following on Vimeo or YouTube is an excellent way to make that path a little easier, but then you have to decide what your bottom line is in terms of what HAS to be on screen. Heck the youtube revenue program may be a better way to go for those attempting to get the ball rolling...

Its no shock. I knew the moment they did that 1st issue and all...it was doomed. I had protected Marvel would try and keep it going to 540 at least.

Attack The Block was a £9 million film, that's not something that could've bypassed a studio for funding unless it scaled itself back.
