I'm with you there. I haven't faced many mono decks, but the one I did fight was no more difficult to defeat than any other I've faced. As mentioned, a true mono deck is stupid (you can't block whatever color you've gone mono on) and easy to beat. An almost-mono deck is just another strategy to me, and personally I think it's inferior to a two-color deck. So I've got no problem with them, I was just curious how much of the meta they currently are.

My nephew used to have a monodeck. The thing is it was a one-factor-defense, all 40 cards of Strenght defense. I played 2 times with it and win both.

Well, yes obviously if you don't think to include six or seven cards of another factor to block your main factor, then you're not going to do very well.

There is nothing wrong with that, in my humble opinion.
But there are card that don't trigger Comrade in Arms that do augment the deck archetype. Deadpool's Accelerated Healing was practically made for Cap and Falcon decks. And that's just one example. But adding more speed factor cards just for the sake of running an opponent out of blocks removes all strategy from the game. It's not something that should be rewarded. You're not playing to win if you're not even making an attempt to actually play. That's why we're getting Victim of the Widow and Shocking Discovery to go along with 30,000 volts (plus Cross-Examination).

I think you have to understand that not everyone defines "attempting to actually play" the same way you do. I respect your opinion about these decks, I just don't agree with it.

We agree that pure mono is a poor decktype. I personally don't play "mono plus blocks" because I think it's actually weaker than dual-color, but I don't find them unsportsmanlike to play, and I dont feel they run counter to the spirit of the game in any way.

If I did think mono-plus was the most powerful type, I would be playing it. I define "attempting to actually play" as including people who build the most powerful deck they can think of, as well as folks who build to theme, or an ability strategy, or whatever floats their boat.

I will be happy to have Cross Examination and Victim of the Widow when they come out, but I will not include those cards in every deck. I don't need them in order to beat mono-plus and I enjoy the elements of strategic blocking and bluffing that playing against one of those decks requires for success.

I just wanted to know if there was possible to win with such a deck, and it is. Even if you put a few blocks from other factors you can still lose them in the game. I win both challenges because of luck.

We've been over this territory about mono-factor (+6 blocks of their colour) decks, and there's no easy answer. They can be very frustrating to play against for players that aren't expecting them, because you run out of blocks and get pounded into the ground because you're out. There was a few issues in the league of people complaining about everyone using them, which is why I decided to not play the two I have (one of which lost all of two times in something like 20 games) for the time being. I may have to bust out my dominant one to help break out of my slump. Anyhow, they are beatable and you can certainly play around them, but they are not the most "fun" deck to play against.

Mason, I understand your post on page 218 to mean that I have to play Hamster again for a makeup match, is that correct?

Had a cool chain yesterday. I have spidey weenie deck (almost all 1 cost). I managed to get 5 cards on the chain before it ended. The one I played and then 4 more that came in to play. Also triggering the keeper I had in play on each one. Ended up doing 17 damage with a 1 cost card when all was said and done. :)

What's your most fun chain that has been pulled off?

I've done a few daredevil / elektra/ daredevil / etc etc chains that are completely devastating, these pack quite a bit more punch than level 1 spidey cards. But my favourite, although not a chain, is landing a big green attack with hulk that triggers 4-5 red keepers that all hit for double digit damage. It literally unleashes a potential 40-50 point attack and is so fitting for an angry Hulk!

Hey, been wondering this for a while now... What is the purpose of the different divisions? (Avengers, X-Men, S.H.I.E.L.D., FF)
In fearful day, in raging night. With strong hearts full, our souls ignite. When all seems lost in the War of Light, Look to the stars– For hope burns bright!
