Let's see, Dok Ock deceived the Six one time, Sandman betrayed them twice, Mysterio tried to undermine Sandman's authority by letting Venom join, and Venom mutilated everyone. They are great example of why villain teams are unstable at best.

Back then,no fancy secret lairs and computer panels, just an old school house and a a table.
"I am Loki Scar-Lip, Loki Skywalker, Loki Giant's Child, Loki Lie-Smith. I am Loki, who is fire and wit and hate. I am Loki. And I will be under an obligation to no one."
At least ol' Otto learns from his mistakes. This was the only time he bothered to use the Six to just weigh Spidey down under strength of numbers.
That's a huge part of it, sure. But even if you take vanity out of it, if you're the Green Goblin in 1965, why would you ever risk your identity and freedom of action by allying with the Six?Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) never joined the Sinister Six because to him that would be admitting he needs help.
Besides, if he had, it would have probably taken him about two weeks to dress them all up like Avengers.
More members of the Six as symbiotes.

I really love how they handled the Sinister Six in the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon. Particularly Doc Ock being the leader, as it should be. The natural pecking order.
I didn't like Kingpin calling the shots in the 90's version called the Insidious Six!
New topic, in the Avengers thread theres a question on whether you like Wolverine and Spider-Man both on the Avengers teams? My question is do you like Green Goblin and Venom in the Sinister Six?
