Okay, I get what he was saying now. I was vaguely aware of that, but I was thinking he meant it was a reworking of the Justice Lords JLA story. My bad.

It was better than the movie.

Really, compared to the movie, it's a goddamn piece of genius.

I think Timm has said if you want to place it in DCAU it fits between Justice League and Justice League Unlimited as it shows Batman had just started recruiting more heroes to the leagues reserve roster and you could view the story as the exact reason why they'd then expand the league so much to make it the JLU, to deal with any big threats like that ever occuring again.

That is one ridiculously huge amount of space--mostly empty--for two dudes to patrol, especially if they're like the Lanterns from Earth that play Local Superhero as often as Space Cop. That's not even close to a single Lantern for every GALAXY. SOOOOOOOOOO much of all those sectors must have tons of activity the Guardians wouldn't like going unnoticed, and don't even mention times when Lanterns of different sectors team up for any length of time leaving whole sectors unprotected AT ALL!
During the 90's the universe had several protector corps. The Green Lanterns controlled some space, the Darkstars protected other space, sometimes overlapping space (It seemed to em that worlds could hire them if they thought the GL's were not cutting it.) and the L.E.G.I.O.N. were hired protectors of other sections of space.

Then the R.E.B.E.L.S were more like the mob.

I like the idea of GL space too.

I thought the pilot was good, more a setting up of the show/season than an origin story, which is a relief after various other recent GL origins.

Too bad Rev died, but it worked for the story, and it looks like it's going to have an impact on Razer. And the fights...man, now that I need to see more of! I never get tired of watching a Green Lantern fight...provided it's the kind that escalates and tons of constructs are created.

Probably only when it's dramatic. Or they can do it like in the old Green Lantern cartoon and just say the end "Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power Green Lantern's light!"

I'm figuring he's been able to manage so far, but this is probably the first time he's been away for that long. They wouldn't have made it a point in this episode to discuss his secret identity if it wasn't going to bite him in the butt later (although I think it's weird he has a big honkin' dayglo green ring on his hand where everyone can see if he's trying to hide).

Just repeat to yourself "It's just a show, I should really just relax" (sorry, couldn't resist that one)

For the first arc, yeah, but the entire series isn't going to be like that.

Nobody has commented on this show since November. Even though it is on between Thundercats and YJ, both of which get loads of comments.
I find it extremely enjoyable. I like the CG and the Hal as Cosmic Cop has always been the way I see the GLs.

I like the plots well enough, but am having trouble stomaching the animation style. Also miss seeing more canon lanterns besides Hal and Kilowag so am hoping that down the line they'll return to either Oa or Earth for at least a bit before resuming the Five Year Mission "Going where no man has gone before" gig.

You might be used to how Johns has congested the GLs, but the whole point of Green Lanterns is that they patrol their own sectors and largely stay independent.

I'm really not understanding the hate for the animation style. It reminds me a lot of Incredibles style, mixed with Bruce Timm's animation style. This latest episode looked pretty good, and I really like this series.

Clone Wars animation is awesome as well, but it's a bit of a different, while still very angular, very different.

Same Here. I'm not a big fan of full CGI animation featuring human characters and don't care for the Clone Wars style, but I really like the GL animation.

I'm liking it so far. The one area where the animation doesn't work for me is with Hal himself. He just looks too buff. And his voice, although fitting the character, doesn't fit his design.

I hope that in time they can make the backgrounds more detailed, but they don't bother me.

The frontier premise is a really good one, and prevents the story from either getting bogged down or run off track with too many GLs or with eaving the viewer wondering "why don't they just call for backup" for every serious threat.

Giving Aia (sp?) a robot bot is something I would have waited on. Towards the end of the first season or the beginning of the next.

With the latest episode, I find it jarring that the GL Corp would just leave this queen with a ring and not even so much as an orienteering course. I realize she can't go back to Oa because the distance is impractical, but even so, there should be some more precautions before handing these things out.

We need to see the Red Lanters again soon. Even if it's not a full episode, just a scene or two as teaser, giving us some idea of what they're about. But I don't want them to replay it to death like YJ does with The Light.

Well, preview clips reveal that upcoming episodes will have spoilers:
Thanagarians, Star Sapphire, and Saint Walker.
end of spoilers I have no idea who the last guy even is, but he seems interesting.

I enjoyed hearing Josh Keaton and Kevin Michael Richardson as Hal and Kilowog. Two great voice actors.
Also I wonder if Razor will join the GL corps. He was a pretty interesting character.

I am pretty sure the Queens brother will end up being a Red Lantern. I doubt we have seen the last of this planet.
