Christmas For Shacktown has been out for a few weeks, but as I'm getting it for Christmas it's still just out of reach for me... and it's killin' me! I really, really want this book!

I wanted to buy that on Black Friday to read through on Christmas but ended up getting the Mickey Mouse boxsets instead. This will probably be my next TPB purchase though.

Christmas for Shacktown is one of my all-time favorite stories. As seen in the 2006 10 days of Christmas.

I'm gonna be getting the second Mickey box set for Xmas, too. I got a used copy of the Smithsonian Collection of Newspaper Comics a few months ago and really enjoyed the Mickey continuity collected therein.

If you would have told me two years ago that I'd be collecting Disney comics I would have given you a real strange look.

    Why?

Barks Ducks and Gottfredson Mickeys are the best of the best when it comes to Disney.

I've been trying to do some decent reviews on Amazon to touch on what's in these collections.

^I know that, now, but your average Joe has preconceptions.

Huh, Disney is kinda sorta back in to publishing classic character comics: new European reprints at Comixology

Finally read my copy of the latest volume (Fanta was gracious enough to send me a replacement copy when my first one had printing errors!). As always, when I reach the end of these books I'm a bit sad that I have to wait half a year for another one.

Something I found interesting: that cover for Golden Helmet, with Donald triumphantly holding the hoisting the helmet over his head, is such an iconic image - but in the actual comic the moment is an afterthought; a tiny panel which is itself a long shot from the POV of the baddie spying on them with binoculars!

Rosa's 'Why I Quit' essay is making the news rounds:

Definitely bittersweet, but Rosa's acceptance and good-naturedness about the way his life has ended up keep it from being a bummer.

Everyone who has been reading and enjoying comics for a while should read that essay.

Oooh, the actual release of these books always surprise me ('cause of the vague release dates). I know what I'm getting come next paycheck!
