I may not have read the Sunday Funnies looking for Family Circus, but when I came across it, it never failed to put a smile on my face.
Should be edited to read: "Thel Keane preceded her husband in passing in 2008".

Living here in Arizona, Mr. Keane has been one of our state treasures. I have some original art of his I won in a charity auction quite a few years ago. Its had a hallowed spot among all my animation art and it will continue to stay there for decades to come.

I agree with the article..but I really hope this strip doesn't continue...I couldn't relate to it as I grew older. It seemed more and more irrelevant..
I wrote Mr. Keane a letter when I was 8, and he was nice enough to reply and send me an original drawing. I practically learned to read on my mom's FC collections, and probably got into a lifelong love of comics in part because of Keane.
It became something of a hipster fad to rip on Family Circus for its warmth, but it always had a place in my heart.
