You guys are being a bit silly... Marvel still makes money with Spider-man and X-men movies. Even if they desperately want the rights back, they aren't going to torpedo those movies. Iron patriot isn't a spider-man villain...so it would make more sense for it to be in Iron-Man/Avengers. And as others said, the movies don't have to equal the comics in everything.

I'm so stoked for this! A film that combines two of my favourite Iron Man stories: Extremis and World's Most Wanted? Brilliant!
"Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder's eye on the Last Day."
Very cool! But is it possible that the Iron Patriot could be Rhodes in a new War Machine suit? Perhaps part of the story would involve Iron Man having to go against another government-built Iron Man. At the end of Iron Man 2, Rhodes took the War Machine suit. Who's to say that the military didn't create one of their own? I think that could be an interesting development and one that would follow the natural progression of the story.

X-men Supreme
I doub is Osborn/Iron Patriot.
Sony have the righths to the Spider-Man movies.
That armor could be just a armor which shows in a Stark exibition of Iron Man armors for all we know.
Pull List:Uncanny Avengers,Avengers,Superior Spider-Man,Daredevil,Captain America,Thor:God of Thunder,Swamp Thing.
You know, reading this thread, i saw some ideas I really liked, and that actually make a lot of sense, such as this being a build up for the Thunderbolts in A2. I mean, the military already have their Hulk in the form of the Abomination, now, this may only be a teaser at the end of the film, with the government introducing their Iron Patriot or their Detroit Steel (I'm betting on the fisrst, and he'll have nothing to do with Osborn. Osborn is the Green Goblin. They may even show someone else using the armor in the comics to distance the character from him), maybe Captain America 2 will introduce his "substitute" in the team, someone who plays nicer with the government, a Protocide or a US Agent. Maybe a Ms Marvel, or a female Captain Marvel can also be a part of it (Carol was a US Air Force officer after all. Military connection again), someone that, in the end will move over to the Avengers side. All this setting up a team loyal to the comitee and not to Fury, who gives them too much free reign. The Avengers disbanded, here are the Thunderbolts, (I liked the idea of them recieving that name because General Ross is in charge of the project). The TBs prove inadequate to deal with the second movie's big menance (Thanos, maybe?), forcing the Avengers to re-Assemble. To get to face the big menance the heroes will have to go through their replacements, because, of course the idiotic comitee won't let them show them up. Action galore, drama galore, heroes galore. Might be doable.
Peace
I think that Iron Man 3 is going to continue to use elements of Armor Wars like in Iron Man 2. My only question is how they're going to use that while keeping with Extremis and using the Madarin(Who won't be the main villain) at the same time.

any possibility that iron patriot could be combined with detriot steel?
Well Extremis is the next stop for a tech-based superhero. Think of what it did to that guy who wrecked Tony. It made him a veritable Superman. Think of what Tony did with his version of the same, actually being able to "speak to" technology. I'm thinking the Iron Patriot stuff is wrapped up earlier in the film and Extremis will be the best thing since Iron Man.
Meanwhile Mandarin being a financial backer for the Extremis virus fits the character considering how he tried to use it after his return in the comics.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
I can see most of this happening except the Thunderbolts. But i can see individual heroes with military ties being called in to fight Thanos -- like Rhodey and Ms. Marvel and a Iron Patriot -- only to have them be sorely overmatched. Clearly, in the hands of a Joss Wheadon, there's no such thing as too many heroes or villains. He treats them all like characters to serve the plot.
Trust me. I have a plan. -- Daniel Rand, the Immortal Iron Fist
