Why isn't Blue Marvel an Avenger?

Well, d reason we/SZ pose dis question is bcuz @ d end of d Blue Marvel/Adam mini Star/Ironman had offered membership 2 Adam/BM who @ d time requestd 4 sum time 2 mourn his wife which is well over 12 months ago. Since den we hv seen him engage & indulge himself in sum few heroic activity and with Adam/BM aiming 2 reinstate himself un2 d world as d hero is believes he is meant 2 b wouldnt joining d Avengers b a gr8 opportunity?

2 add 2 dat...Sentry joined d Avengers roster very very quickly a helluva-lot sooner & got a myriad of support & team-up 1-shots & 2 mini's...y isnt BM awarded d same?

As devoted fans & readers of d Avengers franchise & its individual teams & members wat do u think about Adam/Blue Marvel(xcter, powers, history, personality, potential, etc) & which team(avengers or not) do u think suits him best?

To answer the question of the OP, I believe I heard that they will have him on the Defenders. At the very least Fraction joked about it. Plus when you think about it, it seems he'd actually be a good fit there.

I don't think he was very popular at the time of his mini. Beyond that it's up to the writers and editors of the team books who they want to include.

Fraction did just dat...made a joke & as such cant b taken seriously until actually seen on d very Defenders pages he is writing.

Most people don't even know who this guy is so claiming he needs to be a big Avenger just seems ridiculous. He doesn't have any ties to any of the other heroes it seems (except Stark, who offered him a spot?) but then again, who hasn't had a spot the Avengers tossed at them by Stark or Rogers. Frankly, the writers don't seem interested in writing some over-powered civil rights throw back and I don't blame them.

*Note, I'll support Blue Marvel's return if all his speech bubbles are done in the nearly impossible to decipher "SilverZeal" text formation*

Storywise, he's not an Avenger because he declined Starks offer to join. Afterwards Starks Mighty Avengers team basically disbanded and became the Dark Avengers, so there wasn't really much of a window for him to join even if he did change his mind.

Actual reason is of course none of the Avenger writers at this time are interested in using him (as far as we know... a lot of the teams are going through roster shifts so it's still possible he might end up on one of them). This stuff doesn't necessarily happen overnight.... it took decades for Iron Fist, Dr. Strange, and Storm to join the Avengers.

Sentry was very popular either until d xcter got all d massive support including 3 mini's, several 1-shots & members on d Mighty Avengers, NA & DA as well featuring in a grand variety of other titles.

ANSWER A) (biased answer) because he's a boring Mary Sue
ANSWER B) (honest answer) because many, MANY people don't become Avengers. It's "supposed" to be about "the best of the best" but it's not (partly for editorial reasons, partly writers personal tastes). Storm is only JUST becoming an Avenger, and she's been "the best of the best" for over 30 years. Scott's not an Avenger, or Songbird (though she was offered); or many others. And even once you "become" an Avenger, doesn't mean you will stick around for very long, even if you deserve to (Doctor Druid, Yellowjacket, Noh-Var, Echo)

Yeah, I do sort of get more of a "Defenders" vibe from him than an Avengers vibe. Not entirely sure why.

Maybe because he's got a bit of an out cast vibe, or maybe because Defenders seems to possibly be a bit higher on the cosmic scale, which is actually a good fit for a character at his power level.

If he does end up a Defender, that will be one beastly team. Surfer, Blue Marvel, and Doctor Strange all on one team is enough to make anything short of Galactus wet themselves on sight.

He was a new character that was given a mini first then some one shots following the mini cause he was intriguing and sold well then he disappeared till Bendis decided to use him in NA (which made him a popular character) only after that did he get another mini then he moved from new avengers to mighty and from mighty to dark. So he was well received when he debuted (unlike Blue Marvel whose series wasnt as well received) then he wasnt used in a while until a writer and editor decided to use him so mightytev is right

IF, Dr.S & Storm(about damn time) were featuring regularly in sum title or d other monthly or bi-weekly in terms of appearances.

We get it dat Starks team disbanded but wats wrong with BM joining any Avengers team & if not den how cum he isnt getting dat much support like did & Rulk is getting?

With d upcoming Avengers roster change would it b 2 far fetched 4 BM 2 join d Avengers, certainly Rogers must hv been aware of BM, his history with d American govt & wat he did.

Plus you've got 4 Avengers teams, so theoretically that does create more openings at a faster rate.
