Default Have you ever tried to bench 225lbs as many times possible?

The NFL combine has the strength test where the majority of players(I think kickers are exempted) try to bench 225lbs as many times possible. I did it 25 times on a few occasions back when I was young but probably could have gotten 28-30 if I did it earlier in my workout session. Used to bench up to maybe 8 sets before I would try the 225lbs bench press test.

I know there's a lot of NFL fans here and I'm guessing there are a few ex-college football posters and guys who workout as well.

200 is my work out weight and I put it up between 5 and 13 times depending on how regularly I have been working out. If 13 times becomes too easy I stack ten more pounds on but haven't gotten there yet. I don't try to do more than I am comfortable with because I work out without a spotter or a belt. Not worth getting hurt over, but I'm pretty sure I can put up 225 at least once even though it's probably been 6 months since I got on my bench

The bench press is a horrible gauge of functional strength.

Yeah, but I think most people know that. Squats, deadlifts and such are much more important for most things you would practically do.

Power cleans are really good, too. I do a lot of back work, my job requires me to be able to lift injured and sick people from odd places. Pulling strength is very important.

Back when I was younger, my friends and I had a mock combine. I was able to bench 225 sixteen times, which was great as I weighed around 190 at the time. Now I'm closer to 225 and could probably bench 190.
