i've found that i enjoy azzarello's stuff better in large doses, was planning to wait till i had at least 2 issues to read. do you guys think that's a good idea in this case??

I think due to the nature of the ending you'd loose a lot of the suspense in reading them right together, if that's not something that you particularly love about serialized stories the I guess waiting a bit might be okay but it's one of those stories that feels anticipating the next issue will be a part of the reading experience.

I had to read it twice to understand it but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I LOVED the art as much any artist currently on DC, and I think we're in store for a really cool story.

Do what i do.

Read issue 1, then when 2 comes out, read issue 1 and 2. When 3 comes out, read issue 1-3, etc.

What a great first issue. Without a doubt it was my pick of the week. The art was phenomenal and the story fantastic.

I have to admit I thought it was a bit hard to follow the first time I read it (esp. not being a native english speaker), but after a second read it made sense. The language the characters use is funny, and I can see people speak like that in the future.

The green liquid... is that what makes Orson hallucinate or does he pass out and have these dreams? Dreams about his mission that he has made for real, or just in his head? And what role does this couple and the assaulted and kidnapped kid have in the story? I love these sort of questions and I hope they will be answered in the coming issues. But even if they're not I'd still be happy, since they will just linger in my mind (Lost-esque).

I can't wait till next month's issue.

Disliked the language. The story was alright, if obviously a set up introductory issue, in that it felt like that rather than simply doing it through the story telling.

Art was great, though.

Well, I absolutely loved the art but I'm not sold on the story yet. Mainly because I'm not entirely sure what it is and where it's going - which is both good and bad for this sort of story. I'll stick with it but I've read better first issues, that's for sure.

Odly enough I think it may have the potential. The Spaceman sequence's were really cool.

Reading #1 it seemed like memories. However, the preview in Strange Adventures talks about Doctor Franklin, who created seventeen genetically engineered children that NASA believed could withstand the travel to Mars. The scandal and subsequent public outcry led to the dismantling of the space program. This leads me to believe that maybe the program was cancelled before the mission and Orson is dreaming. Seems like the kind of backdrop for a story Azz might like - Man is created for a purpose that no longer exists and must live in a world that doesn't accept or understand him; surviving by salvaging the remains of fallen satellites and dreaming of what his legacy might have been.

I'm thinking that the memories may be from training exorcises he did, and perhaps thought were real at the time. No real reason of course, but I feel like there could be drama in that.

I bought it because it was a $1.00. I would not buy #2 for a dollar let alone full price. I had high hopes for the series but this was very disappointing.
