My worst experience with this show was the first part of the storyline where Spider-man teams up with the X-men. The day part 1 aired, FOX preempted the entire "FOX Kids" block with coverage of the Pope in NYC. When the show returned the next week, they skipped straight to the second part, leaving me utterly confused about what was going on.

I think X-men evolution was the only Marvel cartoon that came out before I went to high school that aged well. I could watch episodes of that show on Youtube right now and still enjoy it.

Spider-man TAS came out when I was 6 and ended when I was 10. The show ended with no payoff since he STILL never found MJ. Spectacular was a much better show overall, I just wish had an art style closer to X-men Evolution which was a much better looking show overall compared to every other Marvel cartoon since.

I HATED the X-Men cartoon when I watched it a few months back. Weirdly enough as a kid I preferred that show to Spider-Man but I think Spider-Man has aged much better, regardless of the general response from this thread says.

X-Men Evolution has some serious QUALITY moments and in many ways looks worse than the 92 one and it came out almost a decade later.

I'm currently watching Wolverine and the X-Men, this is probably my favourite so far due to the general dark tone.

Totally loved Spider-Man: TAS back in the day. It certainly was the show I always looked forward to every Saturday morning. Indeed, when the special preview episode premired back in Novermber of 1994, I was so jazzed and pumped that morning that I actually went and tripped my family's alarm system.

I taped SOOOO many episodes growing up and watched them constantly throughout the week, up until the end of the series. Episodes included the Alien Costume, the X-Men Crossover, the introduction of Carnage, the Six American Warrior arc, the Secret Wars, and the two-part series finale. There were alot of other episodes, however, like the adaptations of "The Boy Who Liked Spider-Man" and "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" that I could NOT watch a second time, since they dealt with Peter's failures.

There were a ton of geek-out moments for me. However, I distinctly remember the last episode of the Neogenic Nightmare saga when the Scorpion, Lizard, AND Vulture all made an appearance. I remember jumping for joy, bouncing off the bed in my parents' bedroom after realizing that.

Now, granted back then I realized that the animation was recycled and wasn't totally the best. Still, just seeing Spider-Man on TV made up for that.

Though there's been a lot of talk concerning the censorship of the show (why, in the blue hell wouldn't they let Spider-Man throw a punch!) the funniest censorship I saw was in China last year, when Spider-Man premired on CCTV's kids' network. All the violence, guns, and fights were left intact. HOWEVER, CCTV would absolutely NOT ALLOW this to be shown:

    kissing.

Every scene where Peter kissed Mary Jane or Felicia was completely cut, which is very understandable, since there's a huge taboo about teaching young kids in China about love and relationships. It's just not appropriate in China's view.

Oh boy, I remember that day. For me, the episode that was preempted by the pope's visit was the second part of that story. I was totally psyched to see how that fight between Spider-Man and Wolverine ended! More to the point, over on X-Men: TAS, the second part of the Proteus storyline was preempted as well. Though I fully understand and would certainly accept a visit from the Pope now, back then I was fuming. Worse yet, Fox never rebroadcast the second episodes of these storylines until SEVERAL months later.

I loved this show when I was younger and to this day, it still remains my favorite non-comic versions of Spider-man. I'm not going to deny that they had a few oddities in it (Like Morbius turning into Man-Bat at one point) but for the most part it was more positives than negatives. I mean, they even had an episode with Big Wheel! How can you not love that?

Well, as hot as you (and other viewers, from what I hear) found him, he really didn't look like the nerd from the comics, even before the spider bite.

That's why Peter and MJ were such a good couple in the show, they found each other just as attractive as the audience did.

Yeah, I didn't care for the series myself (aside from the comic book art style they used. That was great!)

Yeah he looked nothing like Peter, but Spider-Man sure was just as annoying as he is in the comics. Seriously, stop monologuing to yourself!

I loved it. Not quite as much as the X-Men series, but it was still an awesome show.

    Spider-Man Unlimited isn't that bad, it's probably the closest we'll ever get to a Spider-Man 2099 adaptation.
I'd just like everyone to know that not only am I dropping Marvel, I'm dropping this forum considering I'm not even allowed to voice a negative opinion because a thread "isn't about me".

And Spider-Man Unlimited was basically taking the same elements that have historically defined Spider-Man/Peter Parker and applying them to a more sci-fi context.

He's a hunted outlaw as Spider-Man? Spider-Man is working with the resistance to Counter-Earth's beast-men rulers.

He's a hapless photographer struggling to make rent as Peter Parker? Pretty much the same thing as in the comics, only he's doing it on another Earth.

His life as Spider-Man is complicating his life as Peter Parker? His fellow "Earthman" John Jameson is leading the human resistance and unaware that Peter Parker "followed" Spider-Man to Counter-Earth . . . and if Jameson found out, that would mean a lot of questions he can't answer without revealing his identity. He ends up looking like a flake to his (rather attractive) landlady, who was convinced to let him stay in her flat by seeing him save her young son's life.

He's struggling to remain loyal to his faithful wife back home but feeling drawn to his landlady? Nothing we haven't seen in other Spider-Man stories before, particularly the last animated series where he was torn between Mary Jane and Felicia/Black Cat (though he was never aware that Felicia and Black Cat were the same person).

Honestly, about the only differences between Spider-Man Unlimited and traditional Spider-Man were the costume and the setting. Beyond that, the stories weren't so different.

It introduced me to the world of Spider-Man as well. Unfortunately, it aged horribly.

When I was six I thought it was the greatest thing on the face of the Earth.

Fifteen years later it hasn't held up well at all.

I think one of the major things that has hurt the 90's Spider-Man cartoon, when re-watching it over the years is that the reused scenes become more and more noticeable. The writing on the show was pretty solid(especially the first season which I think has aged the best) for the time and the voice acting was very good and still holds up pretty well.

But the constant re-use of certain scenes like the one explosion scene which I believe was from the second Spider Slayers episode that kept getting re-used even when the building blowing up looked nothing like the one in the explosion.
Life's too short and you never know when the end will be so enjoy it while you can.
