I liked 'Genie'. I still bump it every once in a while.

I dunno if the US public are going to warm up to them and this single 'The Boys', though. It kinda takes you back to the days when Backstreet Boys, NSYNC were popular, and Britney's early stuff. I mean, boybands and girl groups are still all the rage in S-Korea, Japan, and China, but in the West it kind of disappeared around 2004. I don't think it brings anything new to the American audience, except for the novelty of SNSD being a nine-member all-Korean girl group.

But I like them okay. They got a couple of good voices among them, too. Would be cool to see Fany or Sica go solo in the US market one day. But maybe they'll just choose the security of their Korean fanbase instead.

I do agree however I think they kinda resembles the pussycat dolls in their latest song. Granted they arent as sexy as PCD but i think theres a novelty factor in them. I believe if anyone were to succeed in the US market is them. THey have dedicated fandase all over the world

I just noticed here in the Netherlands a radio station, FunX, picked up on their single 'The Boys'. Lot of teenagers and twens in the big cities listen to this station, so that's a promising beginning.

sethysquare, I suppose you're also into other K-Pop artists if you listen to Girls Generation?

Yes, I was huge into the K pop artist initially. But then it slowly faded away and right now I'm only into Girls Generation, but I do still have some of my other favorites, Big Bang, 2pm, Kara, T-ara but mostly their older stuff like last year.

Also, are you saying that The Boys was played several times in that station? Thats exciting.

Oh wow, a SNSD thread on CBR? I guess K-Pop really is taking over!

I became a fan thanks to someone parodying one of their songs(Gee), and now I know way more than I ever should about those nine girls.

It opened my ears and eyes towards Korean music and entertainment in general though and there's some really great stuff coming out of there.

Glad that you've gotten into SNSD. I just came back from an SNSD concert. I can die now.

Wow, cool. Glad to read you had a good time at their concert! So, according to Google, this was in Singapore then?

Haven't heard them on Dutch radio yet (but honestly, I haven't been listening to the pop stations lately), but I read their maxi-single will be released in the US on the 20th of December.

Yeah it was a fantastic concert in Singapore. 2 sold out concert in Singapore and Singapore is not even that big of a country. Most singers only have one concert in Singapore.
Yeah, I heard europe is already playing their single, the boys. Dutch radios... I remember this dutch girl bought rights to genie and sang that song. I'll assume SNSD is pretty well known there?
I've seen europe news cover SNSD.
And yeah, their maxi single will be released in US on 20th December, I'll get getting that. I heard some the album guest stars snoop dogg. LOL.

Yeah, they were so freaking amazing. I was like 5 meters away from them, all of them waved at me, I almost died. Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Sunny, Yoona were really friendly. All of them look so pretty in person, its like when you see them on screen and in person its so different. They literally look like goddesses in person.

Haha, no, unfortunately not yet... but they have a small but loyal fanbase over here! I think people would come running if SNSD were to perform in Holland.

Couple of months ago at work, I was taking a break in the canteen, and a colleague of mine was on the internet, watching their 'Gee' video; I was surprised to find someone else listening to K-Pop.

And yes, you're right about the Dutch singer (Nathalier Makoma) singing Genie, though it was only a minor hit... but that's how I later recognized 'Genie' when I was listening to the Oricon Top 30 every week.
