It must be traumatic for Capitan to see someone with a metal arm again, especially one he has to fight.

Nice. "EdEx" is at the top of his game with this one. Didn't Cable used to be a hairier guy, though? And when did he get the "X" brand on his right arm?
Houston this is the USS shitgiveless we have a comfirmed payload of notgivenshit we will keep this payload on standby until a book with a writer and artist of quality appears. Over

Usually dig McGuiness, but that is a pretty by the numbers "meh" cover. Cap shield looks awkward and that leg in the middle of Cable's own. Can't tell if he's about to give him the nut-cracker, or a judo flip.
Peace
To each his own I guess. I think it's a dynamite cover myself.
No doubt. I also like the new look for Cable, except his face (which looks too much like Deathlok IMO). The Gears of War inspired costume fits him.
It's a good cover, but it's funny how the small things can bother you. The two things that stand out to me are the eyes and Cap's hand. Cap's looking right at the camera while Cable has the Popeye squint going on. And Cap's left hand isn't actually gripped around Cable's arm, which seems odd given that EG wants them to look like they're locked in combat. Good cover, but those two admittedly nitpicky things drive me nuts.
EDIT>>> Also, wtf does every x-person have to have their gear branded with a X? Seeing how spartan and pragmatic Cable seems to be, the designer gun with the X looks goofy.

I think Cap is looking down at the gun, which is going off.
Didn't we have another cover just like this?
Man, Marvel is really overblowing this books hype.
There are more variants on the way. So far we've had two McGuinness covers for the first issue as well as variants by Joe Q, Leinil Yu, Carlos Paguluyan and Bryan Hitch. I think I read that Stephen Platt, Ian Churchill and Steve Skroce are also doing variants for the subsequent issues.
Personally I don't mind variants. It's not like I shell out the extra money to buy them and I really like seeing them online.
I know. You'd also think, in this economy, that they'd want to save a little money. These covers don't produce themselves for free. Plus, the the ones who benefit most from these variants are the shops themselves since they jack up a $4 book to $12-$20. Digital is really gonna screw that practice eventually. (Unless Marvel or whatever service is around charges for something you can readily find in the solicits.)
