Have to say that the lead is kind of a bore and the supporting characters are not that great either considering that he only has 2 now. His equally bland black partner and the reluctant werewolf who is going to be his real partner and the "bobby" of this series.

This show does really need better supporting cast members to compensate for the lead lack of screen charisma.

I know there has only been two episodes of each. But right now I like Grim better than OUaT. The possible stories within the premise seem much more wide open. And i like most of the supporting cast.
We know where OUaT is heading and it could get boring waiting for the inevitable. It might suffer from a "Lost" of momentum.

You don't like the werewolf ;-; he is like the one thing I like in this show (beside it having actual monsters).

Oh God, if OUaT turns into Lost, I'm bailing. I never even made it to the end of the real Lost, but I still sat through like five seasons or whatever it was. I won't get that time back!

The werewolf was okay , the only guy there who can actually kick ass since the lead character got nothing about him but he doesn't appear long enough on the screen.

I'd recommend watching till the end of Season 5 (minus the last few seconds ) where the overall story ends and Eric Kripke steps down as showrunner. I liked Seasons 4 and 5 myself.

But I agree the first three seasons were excellent with great, if rarely appearing, supporting characters like Bela and Ruby.

I've only been watching seasons 6 and 7 out of habit, but both are quite dispensable and this might play in Grimm's favour. I came across forum posters who say they prefer to watch Grimm, because it's new and fresh whereas Supernatural is too stale now.

But I still prefer SPN by a mile, even with the recycled stories. Dean and Sam are much better leads than Bland Boy and there's still good humour.

    (1) In theory, yes, but the way they're actually told is boring and bland. Lazy writing and forgettable acting.
As for the supporting cast, we'll have to agree to disagree. OUAT is clearly better for me in that respect too. In Grimm only the werewolf is an interesting and well-played character. IMO.

    (2) Do we? And even so, the journey to get there is setting up to be quite interesting and well-told.

I honestly didn't even expect him to show up in this episode, so I was happy.

Seasons 4 and 5 had a lot of cool ideas, but the execution was so bad it just ruined it for me. If you can look past that though, you'll have fun. Which most people do.

Like I say, the one thing I think Grimm has over Supernatural is actual monsters. Yeah the effects are kinda crappy in this, but I'd take that over yet another Supernatural villain being a normal person with some contacts and fake teeth.

Supernatural just has some of the best written characters I've ever seen, which is why this isn't competing with it yet.

So if this takes a Supernatural season one road and then Supernatural goes back to its roots as well this show will ultimately doom itself, because it'll have no chance.
I don't get a "back to it's roots" feel from Supernatural at all. And one of the byproducts of that "growth" is a build up of backstory that might be offputting to potential new viewers, a problem that Grimm, theoretically, won't have.

You mean aside from it going back to the monster of the week format as the brothers travel from town to town taking down street level monsters? Oh wait yeah, that was the first two seasons of Supernatural.

The only difference is instead of slotting in scenes of a man with yellow eyes between the monster of the week episodes, we get dudes with black blood.

    Only watched the first.

    1. It was interesting.
    2. Liked the fact that you could shoot the monsters rather than being helpless unless you had to magic doodaa amulet or the like.
    3. Disappointed that there is another grand conspiracy from the get go - very cliched. I like stand only monsters for awhile.

First episode: wolfish antagonist kidnapping people to hurt them and another wolfish character who disapproves of that kind of behavior and helps the hero.

Second episode: bearish antagonist kidnapping people to hurt them and another bearish character who disapproves of that kind of behavior and helps the hero.

    Really now.

When do we get a giant egg that falls off a wall and cracks. And a giant killer egg guy?

I'm not sure nursery rhyme monsters are the same as fairy tale monsters. Other than being well known and loved by children, there isn't that much of a connection.

To be fair though, I didn't even realise this episode was supposed to be Goldilocks, maybe I am just stupid or something because after the episode finished and everyone started mentioning it, I did realise that it's a show called Grimm, they kept going on about people sleeping in their beds and there were bears but really all in all the adaptation was so lose (and it isn't even a Grimm story) I guess they could just about throw any story in here and make it work (or at least make it fit, work is another thing entirely).

Im a big supernatural fan until Kripke left and it became weaker. The second ep was not as interesting as first ep but it built more of Grimm world. Other Grimms being out there, him working with the werewolf, the reapers or whatever after his aunt.

I hope the writing for the main character improves, the hero of a Supernatural like show cant be so bland.

Me i like the procedural, monsters of the week, plus bigger storyline premise. I dont want magical fairy tale fantasy like OUAT. This show is clearly not like that.

Supernatural was an awesome show and needs more shows like that even if not half as good as in it prime.
