'DCU: New Dawn' creator's discussion thread

Cool. There wasn't a roster for the JLU book, so if this steps on any toes, let me know.
Justice League: World's Finest
Warren Ellis and Andy Kubert

Roster: Superman, Batman, Starfire, Flash (Wally), Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, Vixen, The Atom (Ray), John Stewart, and by the end of the arc, Aquaman, Aztek, Shining Knight and Mr. Miracle.

The first arc will be called The Hidden Cities of the Forever People. Simultaneouly, three formerly thought fake cities (Atlantis, El Dorado and Camelot) reveal themselves once again to the world. The Justice League is forced to split their forces to the three locations to investigate, only to find that the cities are far beyond humanity in technology, and they plan on using it to enslave the rest of the planet for the impending return of their gods. The Justice League must stop the cities from enslaving the planet, and then prevent these so called gods from returning.

Notes: My series would be the first time we see Aquaman in this universe, and I also intend for the New Gods and Darkseid to be involved toward the end of the arc. Because they've been cut off from humanity for so long, each of the three cities people are an entirely new species. El Dorado isn't just made of gold, now so are its people. Atlantans have adapted to the depths with scaly skin and gills, and the citizens of Camelot are tall and graceful elf-like people. Aquaman is the prince of Atlantis and refuses to follow the religion of the cities that their leaders believe require them to slaughter innocents. Instead he joins with the Justice League to fight against his people.

I have to be honest, I don't like this idea... and I kind of feel bad be the one saying that, since everyone else is agreeing...
The reason is that more than a series to me, this sounds like a crisis crossover... you know, turning entire countries seems a little bit exaggerated for a single series, it would keep the Justice League committed 24 hours a day every day to find a solution... it's seems to me that every other problem in the entire universe would take a step back if something like this would happen...

I would like to picth a new series to, but I'm already at three. Would that be a problem?
It's a rated M action/horror series with Deathstroke.

You know, that's a pretty good point that I'd have to agree with. Maybe something could happening back in the Dark Ages that is somehow causing isolated pockets of Europe to revert in the present, but the superhero community does give it much credence. So that group has to go back in time to stop it? I don't know if that would change the story drastically or not.

This would be much more acceptable... that's something that could be done without any problems, with a small team trying to figure out the situation. Is reverting entire nations that becomes too big of a problem to resolve it or to focus on only one series.

About your Justice League book, be careful, Wally West is already the head of Young Justice. You should ask shinji70 if you can use him. For the rest, you have soem pretty neat ideas.

It really doesn’t matter. The important thing is that you kill people, and you’re good at it…. The important thing is that you’re entertaining. It’s a big bad world out there, there’re thousands of fans ready to watch you, every move, and every step you take… Every life you end. Are you ready? Welcome to Hardcore Paradise.


Basically an illegal underground reality show for psychopats & supervillains. Rotating cast, main guy would be Deathstroke.

Ideally, yeah. I'm just doing some long term planning stuff, seeing what I can lay out for potential solicits. Not so much a draft as a 'Potential Characters' list. And most of the characters we're choosing, which look to be mostly villains, can be spread between books, in case there are disagreements.
