Default CBR: EXCLUSIVE: Barnes & Noble Fills DC Comics Hole with 2000AD Alan Moore Titles

So they’re pulling Alan Moore’s Watchmen in order to replace it with Alan Moore’s Future Shocks?

Wow, B&N is just determined to go out of business.

Yes, because making books that were previously difficult to find in the United States easily available to fans of Alan Moore's work is always a terrible idea.

That's one way to get your foot in the door.

The Ballad of Halo Jones is better then Watchmen anyway.

It's nice that B&B is trying to fill the void with what it feels would be somewhat of a nice alternative, but it's very true that without the recognition the Moore DC books have, they won't sell as well.

All of Moore's 2000 AD work is better than Watchmen. And Watchmen is very, very good. I'm going to swing by a B&N this week and see what is available!

It isn’t about what’s better. It’s about what sells.

Moore’s DC stuff sells more than his indy stuff.

What's his best selling book outside DC? From Hell, maybe? Does that have even half the numbers that Killing Joke does?

I hope they also start stocking more Image and indy TPB's and helping that market get some more exposure. Lot's of good creator owned stuff out there

Yes, because B & N only sell DC TPBs and GNs. They have nothing else to sell in their stock.

I noticed my local store started carrying more Image, especially Kirkman's stuff.

Cool, I could use a new copy of Halo.

I think Moore's name sells books, regardless of the publisher. The recent LOEG volume sold extremely well.

And at this stage, everybody has bought bloody Watchmen! I definitely think there would be interest in his 2000AD work, in particular Halo Jones and probably D.R. and Quinch, as it features Alan Davis on art duties.

A lot of the modern 2000AD stuff is fantastic too so hopefully they'll do well with this move. And the Dredd movie will help push that character a bit (hopefully), as long as the film turns out somewhat decent (again... hopefully).

Low Life and Nikolai Dante are both modern classics and they're both relatively 'new' characters/series; I'd recommend any interested parties checking them out if they get a chance. Well Nikolai Dante is about ten years old now (and apparently due to end within the next year) but still...

I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at. They’re the ones replacing bestselling comics with comics that are unproven in the American market. A poor choice in their comics section doesn’t exactly speak well toward their judgment in other areas. Besides, they could have just replaced the comics with something other than comics but they didn’t.

I was just told by B&N that they'll be putting the books back on the shelves in a few weeks.

Apparently, this was just a weak attempt from B&N to break up the deal and get in on some sweet digital DC action.

I see no reason why they'd think this would be effective.

The DC Comics news is sad, the Moore news makes me wish there was a B&N in Canada.
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...
