I was surprised by how much activity this thread had. I don't think even the season opener of the Walking Dead generated as many posts.

Agreed. They're experiencing deja vu that will eventually trigger their memories.

I have to admit the 2nd ep was much better than the pilot. Decent amount of action, Pam from True Blood shows up and Emma finally makes a believeable connection with Henry.

    1) Poor gnome gets the shaft in the real world. He actually ends up as a garden gnome. LOL!
    2) Regina/Evil Witch is all kinds of hot. I'd take her over Snow White any day of the week.

I haven't been paying attention to the real world character names. Are they puns or some take on names of their fairy tale counterparts?

    Seem to be.

    Jiminy Cricket became Archie Hopper
The Magic Mirror runs a newspaper called The Mirror
Snow White = Mary Margaret Blanchard

I'm a little slow. What's the connection with the last one?

    Fairy tales resonate with people.

If you look at the posts in the thread, you'll find that there are more subjects than just the Fables debate. People are also talking about fairy tales in general, the places they first encountered them and how they're depicted.

She wasn't "second fairest of them all" for nothing. I think Snow White likely won the title because she edged her out in the personality department. More inner beauty, as it were.

Great second episode, everything was fine, I wish it didn't end.

Terrific one-on-one scenes, excellent use of the flashbacks, fantastic acting.

It's been a very long time since I was so impatient for the next episode of a TV show.

P.S. And the ratings held up pretty well.

ABC Once Upon A Time 3.9/9 (18-49) 11.64 (million viewers)

Have they named the red head who worked at the diner in ep 2 and at the inn in ep 1? I know she's supposed to be Red Riding Hood, but what's her real world name?

Also, "Regina" is the Latin word for "Queen." Rumpelstiltskin is "Mr. Gold" which, according to the fable, is what he spun straw into.

I was a little iffy on Jennifer Morrison after the first episode, but she really brought it in #2. And the addition of Giancarlo Esposito is always a plus.

I think Granny called her Ruby but she was a brunette with some red highlights.

    The Sheriff is Sheriff Graham

And Regina/Evil Queen mentioned his "schoolboy crush that is clouding his judgment" when he spoilers:
    refused to arrest Emma again.
end of spoilers Hint that he might be the Huntsman if she meant Red Riding Hood (who is at the boardinghouse where Emma stays and where spoilers:
    he went to arrest her
end of spoilers) or am I reading too much into it?

Another possibility is that she meant Mary Margaret/Snow White spoilers:
(who bailed Emma out at the sheriff's office),
end of spoilers which would make him... er...

And who was the wolf that spoilers:
stopped Emma from leaving the town
end of spoilers in the pilot if it's not the sheriff? An agent of Mr Gold who doesn't want spoilers:
    her to leave?
end of spoilers (It could still be the sheriff, of course).

Or, more probably, she meant Mary Margaret/Snow White spoilers:

Dude she was talking about his crush on Emma Swan.

Well, that would be too underwhelming - Emma's not one of the Fable characters, but yes, it could have been just that. I just hoped that the sheriff had a long-standing crush on a Fable character already, for more plot intricacy.

Yeah, that's what I assumed. Hard to see why a crush on someone else would make him hesitant to arrest Emma. I mean, if he had a crush on the woman who worked at the place where Emma was staying, that would actually give him incentive to go and arrest her.
