I hope by event they mean 'Storyline relegated to a single comic book series,' not 'Fifteen tie-ins and a few crossovers.'

So wich will be better ?

Spider Island or Dock Ocks event.

Will Slot write 2 events that will be the best Spidey event in decades ?
Will this be remembered as the best Spiderman run ever ?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure its just a "major storyline", not a big "event" on par with Spider-Island. I think for that, you need to look towards that big Venom thing next year.

I think some crossovers are likely going to be inevitable. It seems pretty clear that they're trying to take Ock and put him on more of the level of Doom or Norman Osborn - somebody who's a threat to the MU, not just to Spider-Man. Which makes sense. As the man himself pointed out, he's as smart as anybody in the 616 and just as much a potential threat. If Norman can be dangerous beyond Spider-Man, so can Otto.

So I think there will be at least a few tie-ins.
And I hope when you think of me years down the line
You can't find one good thing to say.
And I hope that if I found the strength to walk out
You'd stay the hell out of my way.

At the very least, all those genuises Ock filched from and bested should be involved. I see Reed and the FF in this.

So, Doc Ock is revealed to be Quetzalcoatl, the meso-American god. I would have thought it would have been the Vulture.

It's about time.Dr Octopus was always a world threat. It's time someone would recognise his potentials.

From what was said yesterday, it looks like that whole story is taking place within the pages of Venom.

I'm guessing this Doc Ock story is just in ASM as well.

The only real thing we know about this is from that USAToday interview

The events of "Spider-Island," though, will build mostly toward setting up the "Spider-Man/Doctor Octopus: End of the Earth" arc next spring.

Doc Ock is just a normal guy with mechanical arms, but after decades of superheroes smacking him in the head, he has received massive brain damage and doesn't have much longer to live. So he's reuniting the Sinister Six for one last shot to take out his web-slinging arch-nemesis.

"He's a worldwide Bond villain, and how do you deal with that if you're just this kid from Queens with spider powers? It's pretty much Spider-Man having to step up and do everything James Bond would do," Slott says.

Big global adventure to save the world! Spider-Man getting out of NYC! Slott/Caselli? I'm hip

I never pegged Doc Ock to be the villain to destroy the planet. Maybe Galactus, Thanos or Toad.

Here's hoping Ock is either recovered or in a new body and out of his current cocoon state. That whole plot has underwhelmed me and has already past it's expiration date, IMO.

Moreover, it has been years (perhaps since pre-2000?) that we have really had a great classic Ock story. Once JMS took over, he stubbornly refused to use any classic villains (in favor of such new classics such as Digger, Shathra and Charlie Weiderman) but did use Ock in one sorta meh storyline in his movie-inspired look. I believe Jenkins/Ramos did as well but neither felt like Ock. Nor did the otherwise-excellent ASM #600; really nice story and killer art but....the whole state that Ock is in now just isn't working for me. I will gladly take back the tubby guy in a green jumpsuit and bowl-head haircut right now!
