I could be wrong but from what I saw it was the variant for that issue and that seems to be what they have done with the first four. I guess we will see.

I've been passing over the Year of Monsters covers so far, but the one for the O'Donnell one-shot is too good not to get.

I've been doing the same, a variant has to be something really special to get my attention, especially when the regular covers are pretty great in and of themselves. The Dracula cover though? That looks amazing, I'll be getting that.

I probably would get the Baltimore/ King Kong cover as well but I still haven't caught up with that so I'll most likely be waiting for the trade.

Yeah, Guardian, that's been my thinking. I like the proper covers so much (The Burning Hand #1, The Long Death #1) that I don't want to go for the variant (or buy both because... money) unless it's really special. You win, Dracula cover.

So, the December issue is going to be Hellboy and the Devil.

    Just read that. Sweet!

And I'm glad the only comics I'm buying these days are Mignola. Makes it easy to buy both covers ;)

So, what does everyone think the remaining five will be? There's got to be an Abe Sapien one in there and a Liz Sherman one... I know I'd like to see a Sir Edward Grey cover, but I think that would be extremely unlikely given that the third Witchfinder miniseries is a long way off (though maybe a one shot might pop up, I hope). It'd be nice to see one with Trevor Bruttenholm too (hopefully on the cover of 1948...)

Reading "The Universal Machine" again, and in the letters column someone says "The crazy old man (O'Donnell) must be one of the aliens from SoD or Conqueror Worm to know so much about Sadu Hem and Katha Hem." Scott Allie replies, "Place your bets on that theory". Maybe his back story has changed since then, but I would love to see the aliens again.

(Couldn't find the O'Donnell thread, so I put it here since we're talking about a cover to that mini.)

And the Baltimore cover is my favorite so far, but I get the feeling the HB one is gonna trump it. Maybe not. But I think the sheer excitement of getting new HB comics is gonna put it over the top. And I wouldn't be so sure we'll get any more Year of Monsters covers featuring Hellboy. Save the best for last, so to speak ;)
