In 2012, Mike Mignola will be doing 12 variant covers, one every month, featuring a different monster and one of his characters... at least, that's what I think the plan is. Any way, the first one is up and here it is:

This is so freaking cool! Can't wait to see the Frankenstein monster.
Currently reading:47 Ronin, Creepy, Frankenstein Alive Alive, The Goon, Haunted Horror, Hellboy, To Hell You Ride
Awesome! Might have to frame all 12 and hang them on the walls in my loft![]()
I resent the time this project will take away from Mike drawing and writing comics!
Kidding! I love his covers as much as the rest of his work. Hooray for creativity and drawing skills!![]()
Recent Nature Sightings:
Sept 24: Two Orcas close to shore.
Nov 14: Trumpeter Swans, Bald Eagles catching salmon (and a duck!), Harbour Seals, Steller Sea Lions, Kingfisher.
So will we see The Creature and Abe Sapien on a cover together?
What comics are these alternate covers going to be for?
Regardless, this first one is enormously well done. I have a reason to look forward to comics in 2012 at last.

So good!
Middenway, thanks for reminding me about this! It'd somehow slipped my mind, which is a little boggling, considering this sounds like pretty much the best thing I've ever heard.

Not to nitpick, but wouldn't 13 be a better number for monsters than 12?
Anyway, nice Mummy piece.
