Superman Appreciation

The new 52 Superman costume is far from perfect, but I like what they are trying to do.

Let me explain.

I'm a life long Superman fan (I'm 35 now) but I like my fiction completely grounded in reality, so in my mind, no 20 something heroic young man would want to create a disguise with his speedos on the outside. Even if that's how they dressed on his long dead home planet.

To that end I like what Jim Lee tried to do by giving the old super-togs a more functional look and getting rid of the red underpants. But the end result looks a little clunky and not even close to cutting edge. So the issue in my mind is not the concept but the final execution thereof.

Supes needs a thicker/wider belt...

Yeah, maybe over his oblique muscles (above his hips) and around his lower back. Like a weight lifting belt.



This way it won't look like a cumber-bund and convey power at the same time (Superman was originally modelled to look like a circus strongman after all).

I love Batman. He's the superhero with no powers, saves people. Here he was beaten up by Superman and i don't like it. I'm a big fan of Batman and i can't see him in that situation. but DC comics are my favorite aswell and as playing an important role in DC comics, i have to respect Superman..!!

Justice League#2, Batman:Brave and Bold and The Batman show Superman almost defeating Batman before something intervened(red kryptonite, posion spores wearing off, or Green Lantern). Batman may be a cool superhero but Superman is better.

Gotta argue that. Big S'man fan here, but Batman's got a serious edge in the volume of history: Superman. Fights. Fair. Batman fights dirty.

(And, HEY! Hitch got the new \S/ wrong! And, yeah, the belt's gotta change.)

I never did like that Jim Lee Justice League picture. But right there by himself, he looks ok.
