But for better or worse, guys, go play Arkham City. It's going to set the bar to an unprecedented level for Superhero games, for better or worse
I can't get into them. I just hate all the character redesigns.

The ONLY good thing about the game was... that it had Spider Man (?). no one would buy this if it didnt have the Spider Man name on it.

I dunno about the ASM game having great graphics. It looks okay for an open world game. I much would've preferred a more artistic approach since we've got Prototype already for the 'realistic art style' which this game probably is going for since the movie is also trying to be realistic.

The problem with past open world spidey games was the draw distance, thing popping up out of nowhere, which by now (2011) should be addressed hopefully.

As for Shattered Dimension's 'story'b y Dan Slott, lets just say the story is more of an excuse to have many bosses fighting four different spider men, its a turn off your brain plot.

Just buy SD, not EoT. Or better, get Arkham City, i just finished the lengthy story mode, and the game says im just about 30% finished A lot of content for a Singleplayer experience

I will not be getting Edge of Time that soon.
First i will be getting Shattered Dimensions.
And the boss fights you mention in that videogame is a plus.

After all,a super hero video game with just a few boss fights is boring.

And surelly will not be getting Arkham City that soon, i am more looking forward to Elder Scrolls V-Skrym.
That will be my next purchase of a new video game.
    Pull List:Uncanny Avengers,Avengers,Superior Spider-Man,Daredevil,All New X-Men,Hawkeye,Captain America,Thor:God of Thunder,Swamp Thing,Morbius,Thunderbolts,Iron Man,Fatale.

No argument, just saying "it showed nothing" is like saying "all he did was standing on top of a building and we had a few shots of his mug"
Length of trailer is less than a minute

They didn't redesign them to look far from the comics

The first spider-man playstation games where great.
Followed by spider-man and spider-man 2, yet again, they where both great.
Then, ultimate spider-man came out, which was amazing.

    Then things went downhill...

Spider-man friend or foe was boring, then spider-man web of shadows come out, which was even more boring but had a great storyline.

Then things where looking up for spidey...

spider man shattered dimensions showed promise then edge of time took hold and ruined it.

And now it appears that a new spidey game will come out followed by next years film. Do i seem pumped? Maybe...
Buy comics by Bendis, Millar and Hickman...but stay away from Loeb! (well, his current stuff anyway)

Pull list : The Amazing spider-man, Ult. comics spider-man, Avergers and Justice league

Alright in that case I want it to be better than SM2 which I really really enjoyed as an open world game so I want it to be better than SM2.

I loved the swinging around the city stuff in Ultimate Spider-Man, but the chases and boss fights were frustrating and shallow. If this one can actually manage to build a good game around the hub world then I'll check it out. The giant robot in the trailer looked cool. I'm glad it won't be following the movie's story verbatim. Multiple villains is a must for a Spider-Man game.

Default Fighting in the ASM Game?

Is anyone expecting the always classic gameplay found in Shattered Dimensions? (i.e. X= Basic attacks, Y= Heavy attacks, and etc.)

Or what action adventure games have been doing more often in games such as Arkham series, Assassin's Creed, and etc. (i.e. X= Attacks, Y=Counters)

For me, it's pretty obvious. The lack of countering in Spidey games is very strange. Beenox have shown Spidey dodging attacks, but he's still unable to take advantage of the enemy failing to hit Spidey WITHOUT repeating his common attacks

Default Concept Art from ASM Game

Judging by the Oscorp building being populated, and supposedly Peter's apartment. I think we might see some sections where you play as Peter Parker. Maybe we might be investigating Oscorp (Arkham City style, interior gameplay as well as outside) or... it could just be for the cinematics team to show the origins of Spider Man.

The third image however seems like it's going to be intense and have heavily armed thugs, something I see lacking in recent Spidey games (enemies consisted of mechs, monsters, futuristic soldiers, and generic street gangs all wearing purple or orange)

Dunno what Spidey is doing in the MIDDLE OF THE TRACKS when a train is about to hit him! But maybe it already stopped or something

Again, it's just concept art, the overall product will be different for better or worse

Free roam and has some interiors, that's awesome
Graphics look splendid, even if these aren't in game images, they look promising

The thing I look forward to the most now is great combat I can enjoy. And of course for the game to be more polished so people wouldn't whine about it and rather enjoy it

EDIT: I love how the poll starter acknowledges the combat to be a button masher in all games so far, complaining about combat being a button masher in one game and ignoring it being that way in the rest is just wrong

    I...I may get this game.

The last one I gotten was Spider-man 3 for the PS3. You can figure out how well that went.

Also, I bought it for my Birthday and I passed it up for the Orange Box.

Why can't we have nice things in Spider-Man games like Batman does?

I hope this game is even HALF as good as Arkham City. Spider-Man games have been terrible as of late

    Ouch...

    @One More Day

    1. Combat- A long gripe of mine. I honestly dont think that combos work well for Spider Man. Not only do I not see Spider Man 'punching someone + launching him in the air with a ball of webbings + slamming him back to the ground with a mace made out of webbings' ridiculous and not like the comics, but it just doesn't work because it just doesn't look cool or has weight to it. Look at DMC or Bayonetta, the combos are insane and look damn strong or look at God of War, you see blood flying. With Spider Man, you just see an explosion of color every time you hit someone... lame.

That is why Spidey should introduce Countering and have only one button for attack like in Arkham. This also leads to more buttons for you to use for other things.

    2. The Story: Past Spider Man games have this recurring problem where I feel like they're not serious enough or they dont have enough links back to the actual comics (i.e. Anti-Venom existing when MJ and Peter are together in EDGE OF TIME).

I want to see a serious story written by Kelly AND Dan Slott. When I read Grim Hunt by Kelly... damn was I surprised how dark it was, but it fit the story (characters getting axed, voodoo ritual, and etc.). He could probably also make a dark story that we can take seriously (hopefully, also axe a few villains or iconic characters). Dan Slott can write very witty dialogue and humor (which would work really well if there were any Peter Parker sections). So combining Kelly's dark and serious take with Dan Slott's excellent dialogue would probably make a story true to the Spider Man comics unlike previous games.

    3. Peter Parker: This is also is a major problem i have with Spidey games. Where's the Peter Parker? Just because it's called Spider Man doesnt mean we have to focus only on Peter's secret identity. Granted, i dont want to have those Bruce Banner sections where all you do is hide for a drawn out period. But perhaps say, before you play as Spider Man, you get these sections as Peter Parker where you have dialogue with characters and make choices, these will change up things in the story (but then again, maybe that's asking too much. I.e. too many variables)
