    DOMINIQUE LAVEAU: VOODOO CHILD #4
    Written by SELWYN SEYFU HINDS
Art by DENYS COWAN and JOHN FLOYD
    Cover by RAFAEL GRAMPA
On sale JUNE 20 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • MATURE READERS
Dominique finds herself trapped at The Crossroads, the pathway between flesh and spirit, where she faces an inquisition from a handful of lethally unpredictable voodoo gods. From sailing the River of Souls with Baron Samedi, god of death, to confronting the overwhelming vastness of the Universe from the back of Damballah the sky serpent, Dominique’s trials will strip her bare…and threaten her very soul.

    Haha!!! Awesome!!!

Read it...luvd it...gonna worship it if it maintains dis quality.

    Wat r very gr8 1st issue & Cowan's art is supreme...cant wait 4 issue 2.

    Y'all sh'd get dis NOW!

    Downside:

D inker & person doing d colors is/r rally REALLY letting down Cowans art...if dis buk is 2 last d color style has 2 change in order 2 gv Cowan's art mo 'gritty-liveliness' kinda like d colorist/inker of Leinil Yu's work on Supercrooks otherwise Cowan's pencil's hv improvd.

I didn't expect this issue to be so action packed. I liked it a lot, and will definitely buy the next few issues.

Kind of reminded me of Witchblade in certain ways.

Out of this and Saucer County, I think I like this more. Saucer County reminds me a bit too much of Ex Machina, while this feels a bit fresher.

Pretty much the same way, but I think I like Saucer County just a tad more.

I thought it was an okay read. Not much for me to go by yet. Would have liked for a bit more depth with the characters. I don't know any reason to care for the main character yet. We get an idea of the premise and meet characters who may be the big players of the series (or this particular arc). Glad to see we're thrust head on to an actual Loa, Ogun the War god. While we haven't seen his true form, his presence was cool. I would have liked, though, if we saw more of the ceremony before he gets presented, like seeing the dancers dance and play the drums for a little bit before the possession takes place.

Regardless, looking forward to see where this all goes. I'm excited of having a book focusing on Vodou lore, especially showcasing the Loas. I was excited for Doctor Voodoo's book and where it was going, but alas...

I basically agree with much of that. The issue doesn't stand by itself, and is asking readers to pick up the first five/six issues before you get a complete story. The art was obviously lovely, the setting seems intriguing, but the narration was a little overwritten and Dominique herself doesn't come across as an exciting character yet.

Wow...I did not expect something like this from Vertigo. Between the dialogue, the third-person narration, and some of the names and situations, were it not for the occasional F-bomb and the lack of a full story, this thing would have fit perfectly in the Bronze Age of comics, damn near close to Claremont X-Men, which has a certain charm. Corwyn's art was, of course, exquisite.

I'm not immediately sold on it, but it looks like it could be a fun story.

Too bad this was cancelled so soon. I thought Vertigo was a trade driven imprint anyways...

Now I feel guilty. I really liked this one, but I've been trying so much lately that when the trade was solicited for december I put in a pre-order and just sorta figured I'd wait. I didn't even realise how poor the sales figures were until the other day, and I'd just added it back. Too little too late :|

Yeah, sucks. I like the series. But I found this series way better than a lot of the DCn52 by a long shot.
