Eagerly anticipating the release of Carl Barks' work. It is long, long overdue. My only disappointment is that we aren't staring with Uncle Scrooge material!
I "discovered" Barks' work during the DuckTales days, while Disney Comics was reprinting them for a short time in better-than-average quality. I remember being quite proud of myself for liking the Barks stories over the more modern duck stories!
Quack! If only that Scrooge material was coming soon! :)

$3.99 IS TOO MUCH FOR A COMIC!
i'm possibly interested in some of this as someone who is finding myself more and more interested in comics history...
as a side note, you can pre-order this on amazon for 45% off the price...
unless of course you want to help out a local LCS and purchase it in person...
I'm eager for the Scrooge stuff, too, though there are a few panels excerpted from Scrooge stories amongst the text in the book. But these stories are all from a year before Scrooge made his solo debut. Scrooge is in a couple of the stories in this book, but not the star. It gives us something to look forward to.
And we're not that far apart in our reading history -- I started reading "Uncle Scrooge" and "DuckTales" when Gemstone published them in the very late 80s. I'm not sure which I bought first, though I imagine it was a "DuckTales" comic, likely with a William Van Horn story in it. I also remember reading one letter writer talking about how he created a library of episodes on VHS tapes, and how that spurred me on to start taping all the animated series I loved. Those tapes have been recycled (my mother still uses a VCR) while I've upgraded to DVDs. =)

Can't wait to get both of these.
Kubert is legendary. One can't think of DC genre comics without having Kubert images of Rock, Firehair, Enemy Ace, Tor, Rima, Tarzan, etc.
Carl Barks deserves all the praise he gets. His duck stories are genius. Sad that I didn't have enough money to get both the EC reprints as well as the Barks reprints back in the day from Russ Cochran. Glad that Fantagraphics is finally giving us a great opportunity once again. Getting these not only for myself but for my future grandkids that I can share with.
