Background: Summer James was having a typical privileged childhood experience growing up in New Haven, Connecticut. Her father is an orthodontist and her mother is an elementary school teacher. So, while affluent, the James' family is far from rich. When shopping with her mother in New York one weekend, Summer learned a truth which would change her life: she, like many others, is a mutant. A fight broke out in the mall where they shopped, but this fight involved super-powered beings. As the fight spilled into the food court, she and her mother were in harm's way and her power manifested, and immediately stripped one of the combatants of his abilities. The fight ended shortly thereafter.

But not before it was discovered that Summer was the source of the interruption. When Professor X learned of her, he personally sought her out; he realized that her power, if properly channeled, could be a great asset to the X-Men. Within a few short days, Summer's parents agreed to transfer her to Xavier's Academy to continue her education and training. She's not terribly thrilled about it either.

Personality: Summer is a good kid with a sarcastic streak. She's intelligent, and just a little on the arrogant side. She's currently angry for having had her life turned upside-down.

Powers: Summer has the ability to totally shut off the powers of other mutants in her area completely, essentially turning them into normal humans. Currently, her power has a range of around 20 yards, and can impact only a single mutant at this time. This change is immediate, and affects both activated powers and physical enhancements.

There is no physical power display of her ability when it is activated subconsciously, though both she and the victim feel a tingle of energy while the power is activated. The few times when she has managed to activate it purposefully, white dots of energy flicker around her hands and the target.

Her ability, which has only recently been discovered, is almost entirely out of her control. It typically flares up when she is excited or scared, or almost any activity in which her heart rate is substantially elevated. She wears a heart rate monitor and tries to keep her pulse below 100 to avoid triggering her power.

Once activated, the nullification lasts until she calms down, or, in theory, when she wills it to end.

As a secondary power, Summer is able to detect mutants by sight. When she sees a mutant, she sees the same white dots of energy as above dancing around them as if it's an aura. This power is always on, as she hasn't yet developed the means to dismiss it.

Skills Summer, while bright, doesn't really excel at any one activity. The only exception is gymnastics, which she has performed regularly since she was seven.

Background: Like so many in her posison, her life was that of a normal, albeit quiet, teenager. While not the most popular girl in school, she did have her circle of friends, did decently in her classes, and even managed to make her junior high's volly ball team. Her home life was just as stable with a supportive, but busy mother who cared for her only daughter deeply. Yes, she did seem like a normal girl, with goals not unlike her peers, and was readying herself for just another day until fate intervined.

While walking to school one morning, a car hopped the curb, and struck Lisa. The force of the impact sent her flying, her body smashing , and rolling along the sidewalk. With numerous small fractures, and cuts along her now unconcious form, those around her rushed to her aid. As they tried to help, they noticed her injuries began to heal, with out any treatment. Her bones, cuts, and other injuries slowly faded away, leaving Lisa in a dishevled, but healthy state. If didn't take long for those around her to figure out that she was a mutant.

From that point, word quickly spread around her neighborhood about what she was, and the results weren't pretty. Lisa quickly became an outcast in her school. Her friends quickly distance themselves from her, and the other studnes treated her as if she din't exist. Some teachers even refused to teach her, even threatening to leave the school just because they didn't want to be around a mutant. Even her home life wasn't spared. Her neighbors cut off all ties with her mother, and her. There were even incidents of vandilism against their house, with someone even throwing a rock through their windows on several ocasions.

All of this changed when Gene Grey came to visit. It took very little convincing for Lisa's mother to send her to Xavier's Academy. She would be among people just like her, and wouldn't have to face the horrors of anti-mutant preduces.

Mutant Powers:

Cellular Regeneration: By touch a person's wound, Lisa can stimulate cellular regeneration. This can lead to the healing of various minor injuries as burns, cuts, bruises, and even fractured bones. However, there is a limit to what she can heal. And major, or fatal injuries, or diseases are beyond her limits, as well as any amputation injuries.

Secondary Power:

Mild Healing Factor: Due to her powers, Lisa can recover many minor injuries, and certian fracuture like injuries. However, anything conisdered major, or even catastrophic will prove to much for her system to handle, and lead to it shutting down for hours.

Personality: Very shy, and quite when around people she dose not know. But once you get to know her, she is a kind, caring, and has a great sense of humor. She also has a bit of a temper, and can be quite fiesty in certain situations.

Other Skills and Interests: Loves to sing kareoke, and likes to watch plays. Also a bit of a Yankees fan due to her mother constantly taking her to games when she was younger. She also has a huge crush on WWE wrestler John Cena, even to the point of having a small shrine of him in her room.

Appearance: Light brown skin due to having a Caucasian father and a light skinned African-American mother. short brown hair, blue-green eyes. Height: 5'6" (still growing). He wears typical clothes for a teenage boy who follows the usual trends.

Personality: Prefers sports over studies. Adventurous, nosy, can be a bit of a pain, but is very friendly. His dream is to become the Next Captain America (his idol) or something similar. His Parents dream is for him to go to Harvard Business School and follow in their footsteps.

Background: Has been a student at the Academy since he was 12. When he first came to the school, he had almost no control over it. He has learned to control it enough to allow him to function normally, though he still 'slips up' on occasion. Has been nicknamed 'butterfingers' by the other kids, but hates it when they call him that.

He has been training with the Black Brothers in secret.

Mutant Powers: Has the psychic ability to cancel out friction on any surface, including his own body and his clothes. Can use this ability to ‘skate’ over almost any surface. His powers now extend to cancelling out Friction around a person or object even at a distance.

Background: Born to a working class family in Memphis, Lazarus' life was spent out on the streets while his parents worked overtime at their jobs just to get enough to pay the rent. Though his powers emerged early, he was unaware of how strange it was, believing it to be a normal thing. It was only when out with his parents when Lazarus semi-successfully caught a bullet in mid-flight from a nearby robbery did his powers become known to others. When news of Lazarus' condition spread, his family was constantly harassed by others. Due to this he was blamed for all of their misfortunes, leading to many fights amongst him and his father especially. It was during one of these fights that Lazarus ran away from home. Homeless and hungry, Lazarus sought to soothe his ailments by robbing a nearby bank --it would be then that he learned that he needed much training with his powers-- and nearly died in the attempt.

It was during his brief time in jail that the Xavier Academy came to learn of him, and thus worked out a deal to have him relocated to Salem, NY to become a student.

Mutant Power(s): Much like his code name suggests, Lazarus possesses superhuman reaction time in which the world around him becomes sluggish if not frozen. Unfortunately, this ability is triggered by his heartbeat and adrenaline and is otherwise uncontrollable, which leads to Lazarus being unable to participate in many faucets of social life. Along with this, moving during his heightened state puts a massive strain on his body, often resulting in him suffering severe injuries.

Other Skills and Interests: Card games, reading, and sleeping.

Background: Grew up in the same home town as the Kaminski’s, Patience, Humility and Blue Jay, heroes now working for the Alliance. She was trained by them in how to best use and control her powers. Recently, as a member of the Neighborhood Watch, she helped prevent an attack on the parent’s of Patience and Humility. They then sponsored her admittance to Xavier Academy.

Mutant Powers:

Primary - Generates a sphere of influence around herself. Anyone caught within this sphere must always speak the truth. Still learning to fully control it, but can already adjust the size of the sphere from a near skin-tight 5 centimeter diameter, to a 12 meter diameter.

Secondary - Can see through and dispel Illusions and similar Deceits.

Other Skills and Interests: Plays the Violin. Also was on her previous school's swim team. Is bi-lingual, Spanish and English. Also a very good artist.

My OC Brianna's power is weak as well, especially as far as fighting goes. So your character won't be alone in starting out at a low level. I am fine with it as it is, however, if you want to rethink your power there is still time. Just don't go overboard with it.

I always prefer being the underdog, I find it more fun. But most people are just so powerful I'm worried my character will have no place in the story. I mean at least Robin was a brilliant hand to hand fighter and a detective of sorts. Actually can I add something to my character? Can I add he's an expert hand to hand fighter and bump his belt colour to top rank? Given his background martial arts and boxing would both be sports he'd take part in and as explained he's brilliant at all physical activity, so there is no reason why he wouldn't be a brilliant fighter.

Appearance: Caucasian, medium build, light brown hair, brown eyes, 5'7". Casual street clothes. Has a scar across his chest that can never be removed so long as he is bonded with An-ku.



Background: Jason was a runaway at age 14 from an abusive home. A year and a half later, a run-in with a powerful, criminal mutant left him lying in an alleyway in St. Louis near dead. At that time, Nightmare Demons from an alternate dimension were deciding on a punishment for one of their own. A young Nightmare known only as An-ku had shown himself to be too soft, to weak to be a true Nightmare Demon. As punishment, the other Nightmares exiled An-ku to the Earth.

Jason was chosen to host An-ku due to his Mutant powers. The other demons wanted the young Nightmare to learn just how cruel Humans could be, in exchange Jason was given a second chance at life. This bond would remain in place until the council of Nightmares deem An-ku to have earned his right to return.

Through An-Ku Jason learned that his late Biological Father had the same power as he did and was well known to the Nightmare Demon tribes as both an Enemy and an Allie depending on the situation.

He caught the attention of Rogue while visiting the Hospital where he was recovering from his injuries. She then convinced him to come back with her to the school.

Powers:

Original Mutant Powers: Low level Psychic-Telepath whose powers worked especially well on subjects who were asleep or unconscious. Also has some minor Empathic abilities, especially with strong emotions like fear or anger. Slightly higher then normal durability and reflexes. His night vision is also slightly better than normal. He can only communicate telepathically with a conscious person if that person is also a Telepath.

With An-ku: Ability to not only see into a person’s dreams, but to enter those dreams and alter them. Can bring other people into the dream with him, or link several dreamers together. Can make the effects of a dream appear physically on the dreamer, but can not cause death as a result. Can also induce dreams into sleeping or unconscious people, and can cause a person to fall asleep. While asleep, Jason can take control of them as if they were sleep walking. An-Ku’s powers are currently limited, which also means that he can not re-enter the Nightmare Demon’s Dimension at this time.

Other Skills and Interests: Dislikes the day time, finds sun light to be too bright and too harsh. Likes the night time and anything that occurs at night. Also likes to draw and sketch what he sees.

Appearance: Dark messy hair, square jaw. Barely even started the fluffy facial hair stage. Has the spots of youth. Cold blue eyes. Broad shoulders, toned athletic body but not overly muscular. Wears headphones around his neck. Loves his music. He smokes. Always wears band tshirts, baggy jeans and old scruffy trainers. He secretly wears the first ever gold medal he ever won, under his tshirts.

Background: Billy was brilliant. Brilliant at least in anything that came to sports. He was faster, stronger, more agile than any of the boys. It didn't matter what form of exercise he was doing, he always came first, he always made it look easy. However Billy was lazy, all he did was eat junk food and sit around reading comics. No one could understand how someone who spent so much time on the ass eating so much rubbish could be as physically fit or as physically brilliant as this boy was. Natural talent only goes so far. It was then that they thought Billy was using enhancement supplements. As ridiculous as this sounded, being that he was 14 years old at the time, parents couldn't handle just how good Billy was. This is how they discovered he was a mutant.

Mutant Power(s):
Initial Powers - Billy is permanently at the peak of adult physical fitness. The kind of fitness men who are in their forties and have trained all their life hope to have. It doesn't matter what he eats or how little he actually does physical activity he may not be superhuman, but he could run a marathon and finish at a decent time with no training at all.

Other Skills and Interests: Billy reads a lot of comics, has an obsession with superheroes and other pop culture things. Aside from that, he isn't really interested in the real world a whole lot. Sports always came too easy to him and yet Math was always much too hard. Billy is also a master at hand to hand combat. He could easily be at the level of many black belts or a pro or even higher, but lacks the interest to really push it that far. Though to be said, he's won many a tournament and matches. And he has beaten professionals twice his age. The combination of the skills of someone three times his age, but the youth of being 16 makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Name: John "Jack" Nebraska, Jr.

Background: Jack Nebraska hails from a small town in northern California, and he’s got a right arm like a cannon. Literally. Even as a sophomore in High School, Jack's baseball talent was so dominant that he was clearly the number one pick in the MLB draft, and was on the fast track to The Show. And then, his mutant ability manifested itself during a game. Fortunately, the catcher survived. He’ll never walk again, but he survived. Ostracized by his community and his family, he had no choice but to start over again. This time, at Xavier’s.

Mutant Powers: Jack has the ability to generate kinetic energy and transfer it onto an object (animate or inanimate) by touch. This ability manifests itself as being able to propel said objects at rapid rates of speed. Currently, Jack can generate 50.11875 megajoules of energy, however, he is able to reduce the amount of energy produced at will. At maximum power, he is able to propel an item roughly the weight of a Corvette Stingray at the speed of 150 FPS (Jack learned this the hard way, which is why he now needs a part time job after classes and training at Xavier's). A 150 pound item can be propelled at 815 FPS, and a 25 pound item can be propelled at 2,000 FPS.

Jack also possesses a superhuman sense of spatial awareness, which provides him with nearly perfect aim, and the ability to ricochet projectiles to create amazing trick shots. Furthermore, his hand-eye coordination level is also far beyond the human range in ability. As a result, he can throw, shoot, or make ranged attacks with almost unerring accuracy.

Note: If he throws a lightweight item that isn't designed to withstand the extreme heat caused by air friction, those items tend to burst into flame and disintegrate, which led to his nickname, "Fireball" (this is the same nickname given to his fastball pitching).

Other Skills and Interests: His family owns a wood mill, and as a result, Jack is significantly above average in physique and stamina from his many hours spent in the woods. Furthermore, he is a competently trained woodsman, and has substantial wilderness survival skills. At the prompting of a Little League coach, Jack has spent years participating in competitive gymnastics, and he has become quite nimble and acrobatic from this training. He is an avid sports fan, and has significant trivia knowledge for this subject. Finally, Jack is an accomplished juggler, and can easily manage five items at once.

He regularly carries with him a container of small rubber balls (imagine a coin dispenser, with five tubes of five balls each).

Name: Orthus

Code Name: Shadow Knight

Nearly 16 years ago, an Asgardian Rock Troll shaman named Mmbuh devised a plan to gain power. Since his rival (well, in his mind anyway), Thor, is a mixed breed of Asgardian and Midgardian Gods, Mmbuh came up with the idea of siring an offspring with the hearty blood of his kind and the crafty skill of those from Midgard. He hoped that his offspring would be able to defeat the Thunder God, and fortify Mmbuh's place among his people. Rock Trolls are not known for their cunning plans.

Mmbuh worked to set his plan into action. First, he bought passage to Midgard and abducted a human woman named Jane. He took her back to his village, and used his minor magical abilities to assist him with her impregnation. Several months later, Orthus was born. Sadly, the experience drove Jane beyond the limits of her sanity, and she died shortly after.

Mmbuh raised Orthus as his son, and taught him some of his limited magical knowledge, until his fourth birthday, when his first unnatural ability presented; Orthus emitted a seemingly psionic field around himself that rendered him nearly unnoticeable to those in his presence. Unknowingly, Orthus' ability allowed him to wander out of the camp and he quickly became lost. As fate would have it, Sif happened upon the half-breed Orthus, and recognized that he belonged neither in Asgard, nor in Midgard; however, his survival was much more likely on Midgard. She arranged to have Thor take Orthus to Earth, and hoped to have him placed in a foster home for gifted children.

Unfortunately for Orthus, Thor was prevented from completing this mission due to a poorly timed robbery attempt by the Absorbing Man. Thor placed Orthus in a safe location, and went on to engage in the ensuing fight in New York City. After subduing his foe, Thor returned to collect Orthus, but, due to his mutation, Thor was unable to find the misplaced child.

Orthus was found by "Lucky" Louis Tomaso, a small time criminal who immediately recognized how useful Orthus could be, and raised him as his own.

Orthus grew, and grew, and grew. He's currently nearly six and a half feet tall, 425 pounds, and still growing. Lucky Louis took advantage of Orthus' superhuman attributes and unnoticeability and used him to complete several thefts. Unfortunately for Louis, much of the money gained from these heists was used to feed the always-hungry Orthus. When Orthus turned 14, another ability developed, as he found he was able to walk through shadows, essentially teleporting across distances.

On his last "job", the bank guards recognized that they were dealing with a superhuman, and S.H.I.E.L.D. was called in for support. Both Orthus and Louis were captured, and Louis was sent to prison for his life of crime. Not knowing what to do with him, Orthus was remanded over to Xavier's Academy, where it is hoped that positive influences will turn his life around.

Mutant Powers: Orthus possesses various superhuman physical attributes common to the Asgardian Rock Trolls; however, because of his dual heritage, his abilities are lesser than the vast majority of his paternal race. Rock Trolls possess superhuman strength, speed, stamina, reflexes, agility and durability. For many of these areas, Orthus' ability level is roughly four times that of an Olympic-level athlete. Orthus also possess exceptional night vision, and can function equally well in lighted or dark situations. While his other senses are much sharper than human, Orthus himself is rather obtuse when it comes to noticing things (except, of course, for the presence of food).

Orthus is currently able to lift approximately 15 tons, and his strength appears to be growing as he ages. His tough hide helps to render his body considerably more resistant to physical injury than a human being. His muscle and skeletal tissues are also substantially harder and more durable than those of a human. He can withstand impact forces such as .50 caliber bullets, exposure to temperature and pressure extremes, and falls from great heights without being injured. Don't kid yourself though, high caliber bullets STING like the dickens! While actual Rock Trolls have amazing regenerative abilities, Orthus did not inherit this benefit. Instead, he has accelerated healing at a rate that is approximately eight times that of a normal human.

Orthus also has some minor magical ability, most of which is untapped due to his lack of knowledge. Although he doesn't know it, he can sense active magic in his area...though he just thinks that the tingling sensation is his stomach telling him he's hungry. The one spell that his father made sure Orthus knew before he turned four was a simple illusion to allow Orthus to appear human. As Orthus is unable to channel magical energy well, the source of power for the spell is Orthus' own stamina, and so he does not use the spell often. When he uses the spell, Orthus appears as an olive-skinned, dark haired man of the same height as he is now. The spell ends if Orthus is unconscious or asleep.

He also has abilities that are unique to both of his parental races, which qualifies him as a mutant.

First, he constantly generates a psionic energy field that renders him unnoticeable to those around him, even if they are actively searching for him. This ability is different from classic invisibility, in that it it prevents sentient beings from noticing both Orthus and his actions. He is able to do fairly noticeable things, such as opening drawers or doors in the presence of others, and his actions go unregistered by observers. Once noticed, a subject has to become significantly distracted for Orthus to become unnoticed again. Orthus is able to concentrate to reduce the effect of the field, however, he regularly startles people with his unexpected presence. The field currently has a maximum range of approximately 150 meters in radius. This field also seems to cause those effected to subconsciously avoid Orthus. For example, if Orthus were to stand in the middle of a sidewalk on a busy street, people would walk around him, instead of colliding with him, without even noticing that they were doing it.

Orthus' second ability is what he calls Shadow Walking. He can teleport himself and small additional weight (equal to roughly 3% of his current maximum lifting ability) from one shadowy area to another. The maximum distance he can teleport is also 150 meters, and he can only teleport within his line of sight; however, this limitation may be psychological in nature. Without the presence of shadows, the maximum distance Orthus can teleport is 20 meters. Note that Orthus' Shadow Walking ability is seamless to him; he can do it with a simple thought, and it requires no build up or intense focus. Orthus cannot partially teleport an item - it either goes or it doesn't.

Other Skills and Interests: Perhaps because he is constantly generating psionic energy, Orthus is nearly always hungry. He typically eats roughly three times as much as a human of his size, which is substantial. Orthus' gastronomical organs are strengthened to the point where he is fairly immune to indigestion. Because of his years in the seedy New York underworld, Orthus has above average combat skills, and fights similarly to boxers. He also enjoys professional wrestling, and loves mimicking those moves on hapless opponents. On an unrelated subject, Orthus has a weak spot in his heart for puppies.

Other notes: Due in part to his Trollish predisposition, accompanied with his complete lack of formal education growing up, Orthus is, shall we say...not very smart. He is functional, and could become a better student with proper training. He can read and write, but he is a few years behind where he should normally be; he is at about the 7th grade level of proficiency, though he does have a unique manner of speech. He is kind-hearted and friendly, if somewhat naive. Orthus is afraid of math.
