    Default Dark Souls

I haven't had this feeling since playing Diablo for the first time. Brutal cynicism, outright fear of what's coming next, worrying that my skills, my level, my powers aren't good enough and not knowing when to run from a fight or not.

Dark Souls. I making a thread for it because I think it lived up to the hype of Demons Soul's. Plus, I want to hear how other people are doing, if they are playing it.

Got it on day one and love it. Played all day yesterday just clearing out Undead Burg/Parish (spent about 14 hours in there total). Managed to find a Tower Shield and Black Knight Sword too. You're right about this series bringing back that Diablo 1 feeling. And they weren't kidding about making it harder than Demon's Souls. But when you finally make that mad dash past the dragon on the bridge or drop those Gargoyles, it feels great.

About to head into the caves next.

I just finished with the Burg and will be moving on to the Parrish next, though I might grind a bit more in the Burg first.

Also got the Drake Sword from the dragon that tries torching you after the fight against the Taurus Demon boss.

This game has a few annoying bugs: framerate issues (specifically in area with lots of torches or wings), a weird occasional input lag that can be deadly, and some collisions detection issues that can lead you to be stabbed through a wall in addition to some multi-player issues that I still think are being overblown by the fact that it took a week for a lot of people to figure out how the system works now.

BUT its awesome. It feels like Demon Souls in an open world, with more area, more variety of baddies, and more surprises around every corner.

More than any other game, this captures the FEEL of table-top D&D with a DM who will actually kill you.... it is shield-up, step-by-step TENSION for what is coming next and the thrill of victory when you finally beat a boss.

Same here. Except to me, Demon's Souls was awesome. But with Batman, Battlefield, and Modern Warfare 3 coming out in the same two months, I'd probably won't give Dark Souls much attention. lol

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is not canon to anything. Nor is the new Clone Wars movie.

As I go further in the game, I've gotta say this.

Thank you, Drake Sword. You've saved my rear big time. There will come a time when you will no longer be useful (aka pretty dang soon), but for now, thanks.

I keep hearing that the Drake Sword sword is awesome, but I just ran with the Black Knight Sword. Hit a lot harder and didn't get deflected if my attack was blocked.
