    Default Changing Artists

Oh man, now Esad Ribic is being replaced on The Ultimates in December.

Brandon Peterson will replace Esad Ribic on art duties in December's Ultimate Comics The Ultimates #5.
This better be for only one issue. It's bad enough Pichelli is switching off with Samnee, but Ribic is perfect for the Ultimates

This is what we're getting instead of Ribics beautiful artwork:

I'm confused about the size of the arcs. How big is the first arc of The Ultimates?

And the same goes for Ultimate Spiderman. That goes on for five issues, right?

    2007-2009: Age of Loebotomy

2011-????: Silver Age of the UU

I have no idea either. It's all very confusing. And changing artists here and there, at least to me, seems sloppy.

Hickman said here the first arc of Ultimate Comics: Ultimates would be 4 issues.

The first arc of Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man is 5 issues.

I don't mind when they switch artist if the styles are similar, but the change is going to be a bit jarring for this one, but I hope it's not permanent. If it is, I won't mind that much.

The only time I really hated artist changes in the Ultimate universe was in Ultimate X-Men in Arcs 3 and 4 because those styles looked nothing like the previous artist.

I hope Esad Ribic will at least return for the third arc.

Wait, that is the arc where Spider-Woman appears in 0_0
    NOOOOOOOOO I want Esad Ribic to draw her ;_;

I hadn't heard this! It is VERY good news! The Chris Samnee issue of Ultimate Spidey was the best the title has been in a long time (and I LIKE Pichelli).

    Excellent!

(And wait... were you showing that picture to claim it is bad? Why?)

Samnee's art doesn't belong in the UU.

Obviously if you like the picture I posted and the work Samnee has done in USM, then we have completely different taste in artwork

Well it sounds like they switch is as it should be - between arcs and not issues.

I can see the OPs problem with Samnee's art though. While he's a great artist his work isn't "slick". I haven't seen him on USM, so he could surprise us.

I'm not sure which other artist I'd team up with Pichelli though.

And while Peterson isn't a bad artist at all, his work has started to attain more and more of a CGI look, which is kind of off-putting. Give him a colorist and his stuff his great.

    Apparently.

For Peterson, I think he is fine. That is not a ringing endorsement, but he is fine.

But if you think Samnee is not great then... well... yes, we have a different view of what counts as good art.

Chris Samnee is the best new artist I have seen in years. As a regular artist he isn't quite to the level of JH Williams III or Amy Reeder Hadley, but he does beautiful work.

(Certainly better than Ribic... one of the current crop of artists that sometimes has issues with clarity.)

Actually looks like it was done in Poser! Which is not a bad thing....I have Poser and a glut of models.....I would be cool to see it used this way!
If we aren't going to do the things we say.....then why say them?

Why can't these artists just keep up with a monthly book? Don't get me wrong, I have no idea how long it takes someone like pichelli to pencil 22 pages, but I'm pretty sure if 90% of artists can do it it can't be that difficult. I agree switching to other artists would suck...it seems like a bait and switch. "Look we care about the Ultimate Comics line again, Check out these awesome creators!!...but they will only be around for 5 issues..."

He did the issue (sorry, can't recall the number) where JJJ offers to pay for Peter's college etc.

Beautiful art. He also currently draws Captain America and Bucky.

If I remember correctly from Hickman's tweet, Scott Lang is also appearing in issue 5. I WAS SO LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING RIBIC'S LANG! NO WHY DO YOU HAVE TO DO THIS TO ME!!
