Yes they did. Because a loose confederation of states with a very weak central government was unworkable.

Americans are utterly incapable of learning from history.

Would you be as so good as to explain what that bill is, that you're talking about?

Because I'm not seeing anything from the past 30 days that is even applicable to that claim.

And in fact, if I go six weeks back, the President signed a bill that is actually pretty good for wounded veterans, like that young soldier.

In short, one, you're off subject, taking shots at the President in the COTRP thread, and two, you've no idea what you're talking about.

Many Republicans try to do their best to convince us that there's no "GOP War on Women", or women's rights. Sen. Rand Paul is trying to make a case, much like Mike Huckabee last week, that it's actually Democrats with bigger issues. And y'know what? It turns out it can all be lead back to Hilary Clinton! The Democrats clearly have a War on Women because "Bill Clinton is a serial philanderer", according to Paul. And electing her would mean Bill Clinton would be the "first gentleman", which would just be outrageous, right? The GALL of the Democrats, to want such a thing!

"There's been a lot of talk of a war on women and I am very concerned ... that women be treated equally and fairly in the workplace, and one of the worst things that can happen is if your boss takes advantage of you in the workplace," Paul said on Wednesday. "Many of the Democrats today still defend [Bill Clinton] and think he's the greatest thing. But he was a person who took advantage of a young girl in the workplace and I think that's inexcusable and that kind of war on women should end."

This will backfire BIG TIME. Bill Clinton is seen as a beloved figure now as a President in an era where not much wrong happened. Rand Paul's attack on Clinton is going down in flames more or less. This is gonna make them vote Bill back INTO office even as the 1st Gentleman because they know he'd be back in the White House.

That, and if there's any misogynistic "War on Women" move, it's trying to punish the female candidate for her husband's behavior.

Whether public servants have the best interests of the public at heart will always be up for debate. What is not up for debate is whether those who seek to influence policy from the private sector have our best interests at heart. And we have zero check on them or their influence outside of elected representatives.

Yes, (Ayn) Rand Paul. Bringing up shit that happened over 15 years ago is completely rational, and has total bearing on the issues today.

    To nobody's surprise:

The former New Jersey official at the center of a political retribution scandal dogging Governor Chris Christie said on Friday the governor knew about a traffic jam orchestrated by his top aides, the New York Times reported.

Christie, a leading Republican candidate for the White House in 2016, has repeatedly denied any knowledge of a plan to snarl traffic near the busy George Washington Bridge and severed ties with several top aides over their role in the incident.

David Wildstein, who resigned his post at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey late last year, said he had evidence that proves Christie had knowledge of the lane closures "during the period when the lanes were closed," according to a letter sent to the authority's lawyer and released to the newspaper.

I'm frequently bemused by Americans' outrage over political tactics that'd be regarded as softball by Queensland standards.
