Republicans move on ‘fiscal cliff’ negotiations

So apparently Bill O'Reilly thinks Christianity is a philosophy, not a religion.
I guess all those mega-rich mega-churches will have to start paying tax now. And Christians will no longer be allowed to cry about 'religious persecution' every time they're not allowed to shove their beliefs down everyone else's throats.
Guy doesn't know what a religion is, or how tides work, but has his own TV show. You can't explain that.
"He actually amnesty them!"
Good list.
One note, though. Carl Paladino was never considered a shoo-in for Governor against Cuomo. Cuomo consistently led Paladino and Rick Lazio (the other candidate for the Republican party's nomination) in the polls by double-digits.
Cuomo's campaign did seem to be slightly nervous about Paladino at first, figuring there was a possibility that at some point he would be able to tap into the public's anger about the economy.
You could also make the case for Cain that he had won a few presidential straw polls.
Here's Tony Perkins endorsing the murder of his fellow human beings.
Does anyone seriously think the American Taliban wouldn't love to bring in their own Kill The Gays law if they thought for a minute they could get away with it?
"He actually amnesty them!"
J-Stew gave him hell for it on Monday's Daily Show. Something to the effect of "the difference between philosophy and religion" by comparing Socrates and Jesus. "Here's a hint. When one of them died, he didn't come back, only to ascend to Heaven and sit at his father's right hand."
Amongst other brilliant mockeries of the idiocy of O'Reilly's statement.
They're probably kicking themselves for not putting on the books back in the day to set a precedent.

Black History Month & 29 Days in February
a couple of things
first up, the boogieman still exists in the minds of many
Nearly Half Of Republicans Believe Defunct Organization Stole The Election For Obamaat least it's down from 52%Forty nine percent of Republicans believe that President Obama won reelection thanks to the allegedly illegal work of a group that no longer exists, according to a Public Policy Polling survey.
The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) was at the center of anti-Obama energy in 2008, when Republicans cited some faulty registration forms obtained by ACORN as proof of voter fraud. The charge was particularly potent, since Obama hired one of the organizations associated with ACORN to run voter turnout for him in the primary.
But in 2010, ACORN filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy, putting an end to the community organizing effort altogether. Still, the fact that ACORN no longer exists hasn’t stopped the group from serving its role as scapegoat. Fifty two percent of Republicans blamed ACORN for Obama’s win in 2008, saying that they “stole” the election for him. That number only dropped by 3 percent, and 49 percent blame ACORN this time around.
next up, pure unadulterated fuckery
Senate GOP kills disabilities treatyFormer Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole (R-Kan.) made a rare Senate appearance this morning, sitting in a wheelchair just off the floor so that members would have to see him as they entered the chamber. Why? Because they were poised to vote on ratification of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, and Dole hoped to send a message.
It didn't work. The Senate killed the treaty this afternoon, with a final vote of 61 to 38, which seems like a lopsided majority, but which fell short of the two-thirds necessary for ratification. Eight Republicans broke ranks and joined Democrats in support of the treaty, but the clear majority of the Senate GOP voted to block it.
The U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities, for those who've forgotten, is a human rights treaty negotiated by the George H.W. Bush administration, which has been ratified by 126 nations, including China, Russia, Iran, Cuba, Syria, and Saudi Arabia.
But most Senate Republicans saw it as a threat to American "sovereignty," even though the treaty wouldn't have required the United States to change its laws. When the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the treaty with bipartisan support in July, Chairman John Kerry (D-Mass.) explained the proposal simply "raises the [international] standard to our level without requiring us to go further."
In other words, we wouldn't actually have to do anything except say we like the treaty -- and then wait for other signatories around the world to catch up to the United States' Americans with Disabilities Act.
The treaty was endorsed by Dole, John McCain, and Dick Lugar, among other prominent Republican figures, but it didn't matter. The GOP's right-wing base, led in part by Rick Santorum, raised hysterical fears about the treaty, and most Senate Republicans took their cues from the party's activists, not the party's elder statesmen.
Update: Here's the roll call on the vote. All 38 opponents were Republicans.
Yes GOP, keep doing what you're doing.
