I know the segregation card gets played a lot but this is exactly one of the arguments used to oppose school desegregation.

I wasn't aware that being a parent gave you such a wide base of knowledge that you could substitute for a school. Far as I was aware, it merely made you aware of your responsibility for the emotional and physical well-being of a child.

And I know a lot of parents who haven't even figured that much out.

There's a really simple solution for that Mr. Rubio...Homeschool your child. Problem solved.

They keep Sarah Palin on as a "star" despite the fact that she never won them anything significant.

Or maybe that's just Fox News.

Yeah, just what the world needs, another home-schooled creationist walking around with their fingers in their ears going "LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" every time somebody tries to contradict one of their fairy tales.
    "He actually amnesty them!"

the bigger issue. when asked which Afrika Bambatta song he liked most, he said 'all of them' then proceeded to bring up PE. classic diversion to hide the fact that he doesn't know any songs from Afrika Bambatta and the Soul Sonic Force, not even Planet Rock.

Rubio, why are you lying to us?

Reminds of one of the planks from the Texas Republican Party's platform:

"We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student's fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority."

Can't have schools *teaching* the kids new things, no. It's as if some people might want to shutter the Department of Education not out of a belief in federalism, but out of opposition to the concept of education itself.

    marvell2100 isn't wrong:

You are quickly rising up the ranks of crazy states. Was it last year where they passed a law allowing the state to take over small towns and appoint it's own leader or something like that? And as ususal it's ususally a poor minority town. I think they wanted to build a golf course there or something.
That's us! The "Emergency Manager". We just struck that law down at the polls, but it's ridiculous that we had to. I mean, the word fascist gets thrown around a lot, but in many of Michigan's cases it's actually true. "We're in charge so we get to do whatever we want, right?"

Those that want to leave can go. But we keep the land and infrastructure. What was it they used to say? "America:Love it or leave it!" Well I say to them, gtfo.

"Fuckin' darkies can't handle complicated stuff like government." was the message I most got from it. Yes, this is what comes of electing "businessmen".

There seems to be this weird and fearful thought in rural communities that socialism = corrupt incompetent and inefficient government that shipwrecks communities into desperation and despair "just like DETROIT!" or "JUST LIKE GREECE!" *clutches pearls*
