Default Has anyone changed their opinion after reading their New 52 purchases a second time?

I'm the sort of guy that likes to gives things a chance I'll play an album multiple times before I make a definitive decision on whether I like it. Now I have made comments on here about certain comics of the New 52 but it occurred to me why I don't do the same thing I do with music with comics, so I've started to read the comics I didn't really like or found confusing first time to see if they resonate with me with a second read. And guess what they have, I've only re-read 5 so far and will carry on through most of my purchases over the weekend to see if I get some more suprises. There is also another reason and that is because of funds I need to whittle my pull stack down a bit and only really want to carry on with titles that I think I'll get the most enjoyment out of.

The books I have re-read so far are Legion Lost, LOSH, Mr Terrific, Hawk & Dove and Animal Man.

Mr Terrific - The surprising thing was I actually liked this book second time through and did not react as badly to the overt racial dialogue in the book and found it a more interesting story this time.

Animal Man- This book surprised me as it was nearly an opposite to my initial reaction that I liked the book and found it interesting but now to my mind it is well written and paced but left me cold and uninterested in reading more so I think this is dropped.

Legion Lost & LOSH Once I started to get my head around the story in these two books I absolutely loved them and felt they were well written and beautifully illustrated and cannot wait for the next chapters, they moved up into the top 10 books of the month for me.

Hawk & Dove I understand the dislike of Rob Liefield's art but it kind of has a quirkiness that I like and the story second time through was more engaging and better written than I first thought, so this is now in the maybe pile with Mr Terrific.

Overall I might have made some rash decisions to my initial experience of reading the New 52 and am excited to what I think of the other 25 books I've bought after a bit of the positive and negative hype has died down. I just like to say it all your lots fault as I've succumbed to the hype of this forum...... Only kidding though next up is Green Arrow not sure if I'll change my mind with this one.

Batwoman was still good but not as great as I remembered.

    Animal Man was better.

Legion of Superheroes was still confusing and I still don't know whats going on.

Aquaman rules and will throw a bear at you if you disagree.

    I, Vampire was even better.

Demon Knights was way better upon the second reading.

I also reread Stormwatch and Static Shock and thought they read better.

I was harsh on Batman #1, but warmed to it more after a second reading. Still think it would've been nice to begin the reboot with all the villains out of Arkham, though.

I liked losh, thought it was very good and surprised that it don't seem to be revamped at all. However I'm a huge Batman fan and was pretty disappointed with Detective 1. It was pretty shallow read. The Dark knight was o.k., I also got Night wing.and it was about what I expected . It too was only o.k.. I've also got JLA and Birds of Prey. I liked the later better. I get mine by mail so I still have about six or seven more titles I'm waiting on. These are Superman,Redhood,Swampthing,DCU presents, flash, and teentitans. Oh almost forgot I read GLC and thought it was pretty awesome. Some I can't wait to get like Batman ,swampthing, redhood, some I'm dreading...teentitans. oh yea I'm waiting for superboy also. Hopeful they are all good.

For me, it was the following that I enjoyed/understood better upon a second read:

    - Men of War
    - Batwoman
    - Grifter
    - Demon Knights
    - Stormwatch

I liked Demon Knights quite a bit more on the second reading.

I haven't had much of a desire to re-read Batwoman at all. The art was obviously exquisite but I thought it was kind of low on story progression and memorable moments. A lot of that also probably had to do with the fact that so many of the pages were revealed prior to the book's release.

-Stormwatch was better after a second read, especially after seeing the crab-alien thing blow the horn in Supes and add to the story. Is def better with more rading.

-I, Vampire was even better second time. Really like how this story is building up, and I hope the femme fatale in this story becomes a major villain the the DCU

-Voodoo ended up down graded for me after a second read, from just blah to kinda bad. The art is nice, but it is all t&a with a rather uninspired story.
Bring back my DC! In the meantime, make mine Marvel and Image!

I read 13 of the books. Loved em all the first time around, some more than others.

It's been a while since I read Detective, I want to go give that another pass and see if the criticisms I've seen about the book hold any merit. I'll do that this weekend.

Mr. Terrific was the only one that truly seemed better when I read it a second time. I enjoyed it the first time, but I really enjoyed it on the second time

Everything else I reread I felt the same about as my first read through

I, Vampire was better the second time around, Grifter was worse.

I generally read my comics a couple, three times, especially if I liked them the first time around.

Most of what I bought of the new 52 I liked and continued to like the second time through.
If you're not reading Unwritten you should be.

Stormwatch and also Demon Knights felt too quickly paced (I guess Cornell in general just wanted to pack a lot into the first issues), and they did read better the second time through... I guess because I knew where it was going and could see how the quick mentions that may have been missed or confusing the first time factored in. Others stayed about the same for me, the ones I have read a second time, which admittedly isn't that many so far, but I do plan on giving them a second read before Wednesday to help whittle down my choices.

Seems like its not just me then maybe we can convince others to give their disappointing books another go.
