I didn't really like that story. I think Claremont made her come off as far too bitchy, especially since she faced so little provocation from Shiro. A snide comment okay, but to actually start attacking him? Bad day or no, felt too extreme for the situation. A very weird story, especially since Shiro was the reasonable one. He's usually the biggest ass. I actually only liked the Magneto/Storm story in that issue of unlimited.

Basically Storm went to Japan for some spiritual healing I guess. This was shortly after her spine was healed after having it broken by Viper, so I imagine she was a bit pissed at the world for a time. Anyway, she entered Japanese airspace and was intercepted by Shiro who rather uncharacteristically politely asked her to leave, as Japan didn't want unregistered mutants just coming and going to Japan. She ignored him and when he grabbed her to get her attention again, she out of the blue attacked him despite Shiro's constant pleas for her to stop. If not for the intervention of Wolverine who knows what she would've done.

Ergo...that woman (in the hideously vile costume) is not Storm.

You forgot the part where he fired a hot stream of plasma at her, which almost connected, to get her attention. "How dare you fire at me for no reason?". Luckily the all goddess was attuned to the environment and was swiftly able to dodge it. That alone was the terrible thing to do on his part. He got exactly what he deserved.

I believe it was appropriate, he nearly attacked her with his fire stream attack, and she was forced to dodge it. Remember, she had just came back from a spine injury, and I'm certain, that faced with the danger of entering that sort of state again was something that she was not going to take lightly. I can understand a warning shot, but not a deliberate shot that would have connected and severely injured her if she hadn't sensed it and appropriated dodge it in time.

Storm's physical appearance is just as important and singular as her mutant abilities.

If they are going to depict Storm in all her beauty...then get it bloody correct.

wohoo thread #5 for our All-Goddess! I wish that Claremont had developed the storyline more about Ororo losing control,in several issues of x-treme x-men it was mentioned that something about Storm was different,such as when Rahne reacted violently to her, Sage was afriad of what she may do to Warren and several other examples which I cannot remember right now, does anyone have scans of these afor-mentioned events? What are everyone else's thought on this?Did Claremont ever expand on this?Can anyone else recall other times that this was alluded to?p.s, congrats on being first Rlam!

And the way the Storm marriage was dissed and dismissed in the X-verse has hurt Storm more than the marriage itself.

You don't listen at all, do you? The marriage and the relationship were poorly executed, that's why they haven't been well-received. From the shoddy way Hudlin threw them together to the sexist miniseries by Jerome Dickey, it was just not good. There were people like me who remained optimistic about the marriage through all that. However, it's been six years, and it still sucks. I'm done with it, and I don't see how you can find fault with me or anyone else for feeling that way. Marvel had their chance to sell it, and they failed. Sales prove that, as do lack of critical and fan reception. They've basically cut their losses already. I just with they'd make it official.

Anyway, that Sunfire story definitely gave us an edgier Storm than normal, but Sunfire certainly wasn't a victim. You don't shoot plasma beams at people and expect them to react well--warning shot or not.

You do realize who you are talking to, right? He will never listen, always live in his own private fantasy of holding us accountable for a shitty relationship and no matter how many ways you explain it to him he will always, always ignore it. He does that. Just saying. Also I agree Hiro deserved a short ass beating. Don't shoot at her and there won't be any problems.
