    Default Green Hornet and Kato

I checked and didn't see a thread for these series from Dynamite. I personally love Katos daughter Milan and her sidekick the Green Hornets son heh. Kidding still both great series so what does everyone else think of the, series. And does anyone know how long Dynamite has the liscense for. Still curious how they got to create a daughter of. Kato it had to be a bit of red tape with the Hornet rights holders.

I don't think the Green Hornet license holders really care what happens with their characters as long as they get some money. Case in point: the Seth Rogen movie.

Your right. If from what I read is true and the first four issues of the Hornet would have indeed been Kevin smiths movie it would have been so awesome. Wonder if it could still be made

The first ten issues of the current series is based on Smith's script for a movie which was never made. It's not bad -- Lau's art is great, and Smith's storytelling has his little "tics" that are fun in their fratboy way. Hester takes over the writing afterwards, and the series continues to be quite entertaining.

    I've really been enjoying it.

The Green Hornet franchise was first exposed to me through the Dynamite Entertainment comic books and that's how I'll always remember these heroes, I have absolutely no interest in tracking down older GH books or even seeing the movie because I am absolutely in love with the titles from DE.

Most specifically, Green Hornet: Year One, Green Hornet (self titled), Kato Origins, and Kato (self titled), have all been phenomenal comics and I look forward to grabbing them month after month and I will continue to do so until.....well, forever hopefully.

Thanks Dynamite for putting out such quality books each month, by far the BEST publisher in comics IMO.....alongside DC, that is.

Only if they had went with Smith's script instead of what they did. That was horrible, just a waste of film, and tyhats putting it nicely. I mean the Hornet and Kato would NEVER beebop to music lol just dreadful.

I am loving all of them as well. They are all just written great, and I am hoping that Dynamite gets to keep the license and stays in business, I hate it when all the great small publishers fail.

So, I was a little weary about starting the Green Hornet at the beginning mainly because I didn't like his outfit, but once I decided that it has grown on me I decided about a year ago to give this title a shot and I'm sure glad that I did! I loved the story of how Britt's kid took up the mantle and watching him train and get used to being the Hornet, I also love how Kato's daughter is kind of cold toward him and her whole attitude toward everything, it's a fun read. I stopped reading around issue #17 and now I'm re-reading the series from the beginning but I wanted to start with Year One and then Blood Ties since both take place before the core GH comic, I recently read Kato: Origins and when I'm all caught up I plan on reading Kato's modern day series as well (which I think ended recently).

Any which way, count me in as a monthly GH fan now, I hope we can get some good GH discussion going here on the forums, I'm sure he's got some fans out there who love this book as much as I do!

I think its cool that kato is a little hotty chick and is into girls, lol, that could make for great future plotlines where she hooks up with hott villain chicks, jk. I'm loving green hornet, I liked the Smith issues a bit better than the current ones but I love the new ones too.

Well, I couldn't see Kato sleeping with any female villains or anything like that, but I guess it wouldn't be out of line to think that she may find a girlfriend at some point and swap some spit with her. I don't know, sometimes relationships can consume a comic book and turn it into a 90210 style story so I kind of like when they don't make their way into my books, but sometimes a relationship can define a series and not consume it all at the same time, so I wouldn't be opposed to it or anything.

But yes, a hot lesbian scene between Kato and some lil' cutie would be kind of hot in a way.......lol.

Oooh. You were doing so great right up until the end there.
But seriously, I should try some Green Hornet but I'm a little burned out with superhero and never thought to give a chance.

Well, I was loving DC and the New 52 but a big part of me didn't feel at home buying books from the DCnU, my heart is in the smaller publishers so I decided to stop buying books from Marvel/DC and to focus on Dynamite and Valiant when they hit stands. It's nothing against DC (I love some of their stuff) but I was buying 9 DC books a months and it was just getting too expensive, I may still go back and purchase a few key books I was enjoying once every few months to get caught up, but 9 books was way too many to get while still focusing on Dynamite and the upcoming Valiant launch.

Green Hornet isn't classic "superhero", it's pulp, superhero, detective, and drama all wrapped into one little burrito, it's a really fun book and I would recommend you give the title a try. You may just like what you read.

That priests daughter as that grim reaper villain was pretty bad ass, great design for a villain just like with black Hornet, I loved watching them in action. More cool villains please!

I liked issue no24 but Vitronos art isn't nearly as good as lau's was, I feel its hindering the book a tad.....but not much since its still okay art. Laus art was amazing though, I get his covers.

I actually like Vitronos art quite a bit. It is a pretty big departure from Lau's (whose art I love), but he has a style that's quite striking. I actually look forward to seeing issues when they come out because of it (although that's not saying much, as I did with Lau as well).

I do like Vitrono's art, but I'm in the boat with those who preferred Jonathan Lau's art a bit more, it was just a bit more "epic" if you know what I mean. He kind of made Green Hornet look heroic and he really made Kato look stunning, his depiction of Black Hornet was down right phenomenal and anyone who may have to draw him again someday has big shoes to fill.
